v0.28.2

Fix tree shaking bug due to TypeScript import alias (#4507)

This release fixes a bug that could cause esbuild to incorrectly
tree-shake imports that are used in a TypeScript type alias under
certain circumstances. Affected code uses a TypeScript-specific

import
assignment and looks something like this:

import Base from './dep.js';
import Alias = Base.SomeType;

Fix CSS minification bug involving
&
(#4497)

This release fixes a bug where esbuild's CSS minifier incorrectly
removed a
&
when it was unsafe to do so. Here is an
example:

/* Original code */
.a .b {
  & .b:not(& .c) {
    color: red;
  }
}

/* Old output (with --minify) */
.a .b{.b:not(& .c){color:red}}

/* New output (with --minify) */
.a .b{& .b:not(& .c){color:red}}

This should match
<span class="a"><span
class="b"><span
class="b">yes</span></span></span>

but not
<span class="a"><span
class="b">no</span></span>
. The old
output incorrectly matched both.

Avoid overwriting input files without
--allow-overwrite

(#4484)

For example:
esbuild input.js --outfile=input.js
tells
esbuild to overwrite
input.js
with the output of running
esbuild on it. This was supposed to already be prevented by default, but
it accidentally regressed in version 0.17.0 and apparently didn't have
any test coverage. The error message was being printed but the input
file was still being overwritten. Oops.

This release puts the original behavior back. With this release,
esbuild should now actually avoid overwriting input files unless

--allow-overwrite
is explicitly present. This is done by
not writing out any files when a build error is encountered.

Fix incorrect code generated when using top-level await (#4498)

Previously esbuild could generate code containing a syntax error in
complex scenarios involving top-level await used in a dependency cycle.
The problem was a missing
async
on one or more module
wrapper closures. With this release, esbuild now uses a fixed-point
iteration algorithm to correctly annotate all dependencies in the cycle
as needing an
async
module wrapper.

Fix a minification bug with lowered logical assignment operators (#4508)

This release fixes a bug that could cause esbuild to generate
incorrect code for logical assignment operators when lowering them to an
older target environment. Specifically the lowering process requires
duplicating the left-hand side, but esbuild incorrectly failed to count
the duplicate as a new usage when the left-hand side is an identifier.
That then caused the minifier to believe that the left-hand side was
only used once and could attempt to incorrectly inline an initializer
into the first usage. This bug has now been fixed:

// Original code
function foo() {
  let x
  bar(x ||= {})

fix(build): enforce Node 24 across Paperclip (#11792)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Paperclip runs across the CLI, server, adapters, plugins, CI, and
container images.
> - These surfaces declared different Node.js versions from 20 through
24.
> - A newer `@types/node` major can expose APIs that the supported
runtime does not provide.
> - Node.js 20 is no longer a suitable project baseline, and Node.js 24
is the current LTS line.
> - This pull request sets Node.js 24.11.0 as one repository-wide
baseline, adds a drift check, and gives users actionable startup
guidance when their runtime is too old.
> - The benefit is one clear runtime contract for development, release,
installation, and published packages.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

Refs #2734

Refs #11727

Refs #739

## What Changed

- Require Node.js 24.11.0 or newer in all 42 package manifests and
runtime checks.
- Use Node.js 24 in GitHub Actions, Docker images, smoke images, sandbox
setup, portable installs, and esbuild targets.
- Align every direct `@types/node` declaration on `^24.0.0`.
- Prevent Dependabot from opening major `@types/node` upgrades without a
matching runtime decision.
- Add `.nvmrc` and a CI policy check for Node version drift.
- Update ACP version gates, tests, and user documentation for the new
minimum.
- Print a non-blocking warning on CLI and server startup when Node is
unsupported, with remediation through a version manager or the
documented downloaded `install.sh` workflow.
- Deduplicate that warning when `paperclipai run` boots the CLI and
server in the same process.

## Verification

- `node scripts/check-node-version-policy.mjs`
- `node --check scripts/check-node-version-policy.mjs`
- `node --check cli/esbuild.config.mjs`
- `node --check scripts/generate-npm-package-json.mjs`
- `bash -n scripts/install.sh scripts/test-install-sh-docker.sh
scripts/e2e-install-lifecycle.sh`
- Parsed all 42 package manifests and confirmed `engines.node` is
`>=24.11.0`.
- `git diff --check`
- `vitest run
packages/adapter-utils/src/sandbox-install-command.test.ts` passed with
3 tests.
- `vitest run cli/src/node-version.test.ts` passed with 4 tests.
- Directly exercised the shared warning helper for unsupported-version
messaging and same-process deduplication.
- The focused exe.dev suite could not resolve the locally unbuilt plugin
SDK from this isolated worktree. A full offline workspace install was
also blocked because the package-manager signature verifier requires
registry access. The full suite was not run locally; draft CI performs a
clean install and evaluates the wider impact.

## Risks

- This is a breaking runtime change for users, plugins, and deployments
that still use Node.js 20 or 22.
- Published workspace packages will now produce an engine warning or
failure in strict package managers on older Node.js releases.
- Node.js 24 can reveal dependency, native module, Playwright, or agent
CLI compatibility issues in CI.
- The bootstrap installer now installs Node.js 24 when the current
runtime is older than 24.11.0.
- The portable sandbox fallback is pinned to Node.js 24.11.0 and depends
on that upstream tarball remaining available.
- Unsupported runtimes continue booting after a warning, so a later
incompatibility can still fail at its point of use.
- The CLI and server share the warning policy through the published
`@paperclipai/shared` package; packaging checks must keep that subpath
export available.
- This PR does not commit `pnpm-lock.yaml` because repository policy
assigns lockfile generation to CI.

> For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and
discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap
with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap
first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`.

## Model Used

- OpenAI Codex based on GPT-5. The exact deployment ID and context
window are not exposed in this session. Reasoning, repository tools,
shell execution, and GitHub tools were enabled.

fix(security): route paperclipai CLI guidance through safe npx form (CWE-78) (#11400)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work
> - Paperclip provides CLI commands and guidance for operators and
agents
> - The `pnpm paperclipai` script can pass argument values through a
shell
> - Shell re-parsing can execute command substitutions inside quoted
values
> - This pull request routes guidance through inert-argv `npx
paperclipai` commands and adds regression coverage
> - The benefit is safer operator guidance across documentation and
runtime hints

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

This pull request fixes a command-injection-class defect in Paperclip
CLI guidance.

**What happened?**

The `pnpm paperclipai --flag "$VALUE"` form can re-parse argument
values through a shell. A command substitution inside a quoted value can
execute on the host.

**Expected behavior**

Paperclip guidance must pass CLI values as inert argument values.
Host-derived values must not appear in copyable commands.

**Steps to reproduce**

1. Run a Paperclip guidance command that uses the `pnpm paperclipai`
script.
2. Provide a quoted value that contains a command substitution.
3. Observe that the shell can evaluate the substitution before the CLI
starts.
4. Compare the result with the `npx paperclipai` form.

**Paperclip version or commit**

`5670984b75d109950c968542a0111ebb6967f4da`

**Deployment mode**

All deployment modes that show or use the affected CLI guidance.

**Installation method**

Built from source and installed CLI guidance.

**Agent adapter(s) involved**

Not adapter-specific (core bug).

**Database mode**

Not database-related.

**Access context**

Both.

**Additional context**

The earlier merged PR
[#11343](https://github.com/paperclipai/paperclip/pull/11343) used the
unsafe `pnpm exec paperclipai` form. This fresh PR replaces that
guidance with the safe `npx paperclipai` form.

## What Changed

- Standardize documentation and runtime hints on `npx paperclipai`.
- Remove the broken `pnpm exec paperclipai` guidance.
- Use a static `<host>` placeholder in private-hostname guidance.
- Add regression tests for unsafe forms, continued lines, static hosts,
and offline guidance.

## Verification

- `git diff --check
origin/master...origin/fix/paperclipai-cli-npx-safe-invocation` passes.
- The branch adds `server/src/__tests__/cli-invocation-safety.test.ts`
and updates private-hostname tests.
- CI must run the new tests, typecheck, lint, and build checks.
- Local Vitest execution was not available because this worktree has no
installed Vitest binary.

## Risks

- The change affects operator and agent documentation text.
- The runtime hints now show `<host>` instead of a request-derived host
value.
- No database schema or migration changes exist.
- CI will detect any missed unsafe invocation or type error.

## Model Used

OpenAI GPT-5, exact model ID `gpt-5`, with tool use and code-review
assistance. The model used repository inspection, Git operations, and PR
preparation.

build(deps): align react-dom with react@19.2.7 (replaces dependabot #8471) (#8557)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - The board UI, plugin examples, and plugin SDK all share the same
React dependency graph.
> - Dependabot PR #8471 raised `react` and `@types/react`, but left
`react-dom` and `@types/react-dom` on older 19.x ranges.
> - That let dependency resolution install incompatible React runtime
versions, which makes React refuse to run and breaks UI-oriented test
suites.
> - Current PR policy keeps `pnpm-lock.yaml` owned by CI for
non-dependabot authors, so this PR updates manifests and lets CI
regenerate the lockfile artifact.
> - This pull request replaces #8471 with a complete React toolchain
alignment across the package manifests it touched.
> - The benefit is a single React 19.2.7 runtime graph that keeps
dependency consumers from deduping onto a stale `react-dom` patch.

## Linked Issues or Issue Description

Refs #8471

This PR replaces #8471, which updated `react` and `@types/react` but
left `react-dom` and `@types/react-dom` behind. The resulting dependency
graph can install mismatched `react` and `react-dom` versions, producing
React's incompatible-version runtime error in UI tests.

## What Changed

- Aligned `react-dom` package ranges to `^19.2.7` anywhere the React
dependency set is present.
- Aligned `@types/react-dom` package ranges to the 19.2 line.
- Kept the `react@^19.2.7` and `@types/react@^19.2.17` bumps from #8471.
- Added root pnpm overrides for `react` and `react-dom` so peer-only
consumers resolve to the same 19.2.7 runtime instead of a stale patch.
- Left `pnpm-lock.yaml` out of the PR, per the PR workflow policy; CI
regenerates and shares the lockfile artifact when manifests change.

## Verification

- `cd ui && NODE_ENV=test npx vitest run` passed locally before handoff:
243 files / 1739 tests.
- `NODE_ENV=development pnpm install --lockfile-only --ignore-scripts
--no-frozen-lockfile` passed locally on the rebased branch.
- Confirmed regenerated `pnpm-lock.yaml` resolves `react` and
`react-dom` to 19.2.7 and contains no `react@19.2.4` /
`react-dom@19.2.4` entries.
- GitHub Actions are green on this PR, including `policy`, `Typecheck +
Release Registry`, all general test shards, `Build`, `e2e`, and
`verify`.
- Greptile completed at 5/5 with zero unresolved threads.

## Risks

Low risk. This is a dependency-version alignment only, but React
dependency changes can expose package-manager resolution issues. The
root overrides intentionally constrain the React runtime pair to the
same patch version to avoid that class of failure.

## Model Used

OpenAI Codex based on GPT-5, using command-line tool execution and
GitHub CLI operations in a Paperclip-managed workspace.

v0.28.1

Disallow
\
in local development server HTTP requests (GHSA-g7r4-m6w7-qqqr)

This release fixes a security issue where HTTP requests to esbuild's
local development server could traverse outside of the serve directory
on Windows using a
\
backslash character. It happened due
to the use of Go's
path.Clean()
function, which only
handles Unix-style
/
characters. HTTP requests with paths
containing
\
are no longer allowed.

Thanks to
@dellalibera
for
reporting this issue.

Add integrity checks to the Deno API (GHSA-gv7w-rqvm-qjhr)

The previous release of esbuild added integrity checks to esbuild's
npm install script. This release also adds integrity checks to esbuild's
Deno install script. Now esbuild's Deno API will also fail with an error
if the downloaded esbuild binary contains something other than the
expected content.

Note that esbuild's Deno API installs from

registry.npmjs.org
by default, but allows the

NPM_CONFIG_REGISTRY
environment variable to override this
with a custom package registry. This change means that the esbuild
executable served by
NPM_CONFIG_REGISTRY
must now match the
expected content.

Thanks to
@sondt99
for
reporting this issue.

Avoid inlining
using
and
await using

declarations (#4482)

Previously esbuild's minifier sometimes incorrectly inlined

using
and
await using
declarations into
subsequent uses of that declaration, which then fails to dispose of the
resource correctly. This bug happened because inlining was done for

let
and
const
declarations by avoiding doing
it for
var
declarations, which no longer worked when more
declaration types were added. Here's an example:

// Original code
{
  using x = new Resource()
  x.activate()
}

// Old output (with --minify)
new Resource().activate();

// New output (with --minify)
{using e=new Resource;e.activate()}

Fix module evaluation when an error is thrown (#4461,
#4467)

If an error is thrown during module evaluation, esbuild previously
didn't preserve the state of the module for subsequent module
references. This was observable if
import()
or

require()
is used to import a module multiple times. The
thrown error is supposed to be thrown by every call to

import()
or
require()
, not just the first.
With this release, esbuild will now throw the same error every time you
call
import()
or
require()
on a module that
throws during its evaluation.

Fix some edge cases around the
new
operator (#4477)

Previously esbuild incorrectly printed certain edge cases involving
complex expressions inside the target of a
new
expression
(specifically an optional chain and/or a tagged template literal). The
generated code for the
new
target was not correctly wrapped
with parentheses, and either contained a syntax error or had different
semantics. These edge cases have been fixed so that they now correctly
wrap the
new
target in parentheses. Here is an example of
some affected code:

// Original code
new (foo()`bar`)()
new (foo()?.bar)()

// Old output
new foo()
bar
();
new (foo())?.bar();

0.28.1

Disallow
\
in local development server HTTP requests (GHSA-g7r4-m6w7-qqqr)

This release fixes a security issue where HTTP requests to esbuild's
local development server could traverse outside of the serve directory
on Windows using a
\
backslash character. It happened due
to the use of Go's
path.Clean()
function, which only
handles Unix-style
/
characters. HTTP requests with paths
containing
\
are no longer allowed.

Thanks to
@dellalibera
for
reporting this issue.

Add integrity checks to the Deno API (GHSA-gv7w-rqvm-qjhr)

The previous release of esbuild added integrity checks to esbuild's
npm install script. This release also adds integrity checks to esbuild's
Deno install script. Now esbuild's Deno API will also fail with an error
if the downloaded esbuild binary contains something other than the
expected content.

Note that esbuild's Deno API installs from

registry.npmjs.org
by default, but allows the

NPM_CONFIG_REGISTRY
environment variable to override this
with a custom package registry. This change means that the esbuild
executable served by
NPM_CONFIG_REGISTRY
must now match the
expected content.

Thanks to
@sondt99
for
reporting this issue.

Avoid inlining
using
and
await using

declarations (#4482)

Previously esbuild's minifier sometimes incorrectly inlined

using
and
await using
declarations into
subsequent uses of that declaration, which then fails to dispose of the
resource correctly. This bug happened because inlining was done for

let
and
const
declarations by avoiding doing
it for
var
declarations, which no longer worked when more
declaration types were added. Here's an example:

// Original code
{
  using x = new Resource()
  x.activate()
}

// Old output (with --minify)
new Resource().activate();

// New output (with --minify)
{using e=new Resource;e.activate()}

Fix module evaluation when an error is thrown (#4461,
#4467)

If an error is thrown during module evaluation, esbuild previously
didn't preserve the state of the module for subsequent module
references. This was observable if
import()
or

require()
is used to import a module multiple times. The
thrown error is supposed to be thrown by every call to

import()
or
require()
, not just the first.
With this release, esbuild will now throw the same error every time you
call
import()
or
require()
on a module that
throws during its evaluation.

Fix some edge cases around the
new
operator (#4477)

Previously esbuild incorrectly printed certain edge cases involving
complex expressions inside the target of a
new
expression
(specifically an optional chain and/or a tagged template literal). The
generated code for the
new
target was not correctly wrapped
with parentheses, and either contained a syntax error or had different

refactor(deps-dev): bump vitest from 3.2.4 to 4.1.8 (#7581)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies
> - Test infrastructure across server, ui, packages/* runs on Vitest
> - Dependabot opened a narrow bump (3.2.4 → 3.2.6), but the wider
workspace is on 3.2.4 and the major-version bridge to v4 needs a
coordinated change set across configs and tests
> - Staying on 3.x indefinitely leaves us behind on Vitest 4 (perf,
pool, and config improvements) and forces repeated patch-only dependabot
churn
> - This pull request upgrades Vitest to 4.1.8 across the workspace,
updates `server/vitest.config.ts` and `scripts/run-vitest-stable.mjs`
for the new API, and adjusts two UI tests for the new assertion
semantics
> - The benefit is a single, coherent Vitest 4 upgrade that supersedes
#7570 and gets us on the supported major line

## What Changed

- Bump `vitest` from `3.2.4` to `4.1.8` across root, `server`, `ui`, and
all `packages/*` (including plugin examples and sandbox providers)
- Update `server/vitest.config.ts` for Vitest 4 config surface
- Update `scripts/run-vitest-stable.mjs` to match the new runner
behavior
- Adjust `ui/src/components/CommentThread.test.tsx` and
`ui/src/components/MarkdownEditor.test.tsx` for Vitest 4 matcher/timing
semantics
- Refresh `pnpm-lock.yaml`

## Verification

- `pnpm install` resolves cleanly with the new lockfile
- `pnpm -w -r test` (server, ui, packages) runs under Vitest 4.1.8

## Risks

- Major-version Vitest bump: behavioral changes in pools, fake timers,
and matcher strictness can surface flake. Test config and the two UI
tests were updated to match v4 semantics; broader test runs should be
watched on CI before merge.
- Supersedes dependabot PR #7570 (3.2.4 → 3.2.6); that PR should be
closed.

## Model Used

- Claude (Anthropic) — `claude-opus-4-7`, extended thinking, tool use
enabled

build(deps-dev): bump esbuild from 0.27.3 to 0.28.0 (#7331)
Bumps [esbuild](https://github.com/evanw/esbuild) from 0.27.3 to 0.28.0.

v0.28.0

Add support for
with { type: 'text' }
imports (#4435)

The import
text proposal has reached stage 3 in the TC39 process, which means
that it's recommended for implementation. It has also already been
implemented by Deno and Bun. So with
this release, esbuild also adds support for it. This behaves exactly the
same as esbuild's existing
text

loader. Here's an example:

import string from './example.txt' with { type:
'text' }
console.log(string)

Add integrity checks to fallback download path (#4343)

Installing esbuild via npm is somewhat complicated with several
different edge cases (see esbuild's
documentation for details). If the regular installation of esbuild's
platform-specific package fails, esbuild's install script attempts to
download the platform-specific package itself (first with the

npm
command, and then with a HTTP request to

registry.npmjs.org
as a last resort).

This last resort path previously didn't have any integrity checks.
With this release, esbuild will now verify that the hash of the
downloaded binary matches the expected hash for the current release.
This means the hashes for all of esbuild's platform-specific binary
packages will now be embedded in the top-level
esbuild

package. Hopefully this should work without any problems. But just in
case, this change is being done as a breaking change release.

Update the Go compiler from 1.25.7 to 1.26.1

This upgrade should not affect anything. However, there have been
some significant internal changes to the Go compiler, so esbuild could
potentially behave differently in certain edge cases:

It now uses the new garbage
collector that comes with Go 1.26.

The Go compiler is now more aggressive with allocating memory on the
stack.

The executable format that the Go linker uses has undergone several
changes.

The WebAssembly build now unconditionally makes use of the sign
extension and non-trapping floating-point to integer conversion
instructions.

Fix lowering of define semantics for TypeScript parameter properties
(<a

The previous release incorrectly generated class fields for
TypeScript parameter properties even when the configured target
environment does not support class fields. With this release, the
generated class fields will now be correctly lowered in this case:

// Original code

}

// Old output (with --loader=ts --target=es2021)
[codex] Improve local plugin development workflow (#5821)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip is the control plane for autonomous AI-agent companies.
> - Plugins are the extension point for adding capabilities without
expanding the core product surface.
> - Local plugin development needed a tighter CLI-first loop so plugin
authors can scaffold, run, install, inspect, and reload plugins without
reaching into internal package paths.
> - The server plugin install path also needed local-path handling that
keeps plugin identity, dashboard routes, and development watchers
coherent.
> - This pull request adds the CLI scaffold/install workflow, fixes the
server and SDK edge cases that blocked that loop, and updates the
agent-facing plugin creation skill and docs.
> - The benefit is that contributors can develop plugins from local
folders with a documented, repeatable happy path.

## What Changed

- Added `paperclipai plugin init` coverage and CLI wiring for local
plugin scaffolding.
- Improved local plugin install handling, plugin key route resolution,
dashboard capability behavior, and dev watcher startup/reload behavior.
- Fixed plugin SDK worker entrypoint validation for symlinked package
layouts.
- Added targeted tests for plugin init, server plugin authz/watcher
behavior, SDK worker host validation, and the authoring smoke example.
- Added a short local plugin development guide and refreshed the plugin
authoring guide plus `paperclip-create-plugin` skill instructions.

## Verification

- `pnpm run preflight:workspace-links && pnpm --filter
@paperclipai/plugin-sdk build && pnpm --filter
@paperclipai/create-paperclip-plugin typecheck && pnpm --filter
paperclipai typecheck && pnpm --filter @paperclipai/plugin-sdk typecheck
&& pnpm --filter @paperclipai/server typecheck`
- `pnpm exec vitest run --project paperclipai
cli/src/__tests__/plugin-init.test.ts`
- `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/plugin-sdk
packages/plugins/sdk/tests/worker-rpc-host.test.ts`
- `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/server
server/src/__tests__/plugin-dev-watcher.test.ts --pool=forks
--poolOptions.forks.isolate=true`
- `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/server
server/src/__tests__/plugin-routes-authz.test.ts --pool=forks
--poolOptions.forks.isolate=true`
- `pnpm --dir packages/plugins/examples/plugin-authoring-smoke-example
test`
- Confirmed `pnpm-lock.yaml` is not included in the PR diff.

## Risks

- Medium risk: this touches plugin install routing, CLI command
behavior, and the local development watcher.
- Local path plugin installs execute trusted local code by design; the
new docs call out that trust boundary.
- No database migrations are included.

- OpenAI Codex, GPT-5 coding agent, tool-enabled local shell and git
workflow, medium reasoning effort. Context window details were not
exposed in this runtime.

## Checklist

- [x] I have included a thinking path that traces from project context
to this change
- [x] I have specified the model used (with version and capability
details)
- [x] I have checked ROADMAP.md and confirmed this PR does not duplicate
planned core work
- [x] I have run tests locally and they pass

screenshots
- [x] I have updated relevant documentation to reflect my changes
- [x] I have considered and documented any risks above
- [x] I will address all Greptile and reviewer comments before
requesting merge

UI screenshots: not applicable; this PR changes CLI/server/plugin docs
and tests, not board UI rendering.

test: isolate CLI company import e2e state (#4560)
## Thinking Path

> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies, and its
CLI import/export path is part of how operators move company state
safely between environments.
> - The `paperclipai company import/export` e2e test is supposed to
validate that portability flow inside a hermetic harness, not against a
developer's live Paperclip home.
> - This regression showed nested CLI subprocesses could silently fall
back to ambient `PAPERCLIP_*` state and mutate a real local instance by
creating extra companies such as `CLI-1-Roundtrip-Test`.
> - The first job was to pin the test subprocesses to isolated config,
home, instance, auth, and context paths, and to add a regression
assertion that proves the nested CLI writes stay inside the test-owned
state.
> - Once the PR was up, CI and Greptile exposed two follow-on issues
that were blocking merge: plugin SDK typecheck bootstrap was racing
across packages in fresh CI, and the new lock helper needed one more fix
to release its lock on failure.
> - This pull request therefore ends up doing two tightly related
things: fixing the original CLI isolation leak, and hardening the
supporting typecheck/bootstrap path enough for the fix to verify cleanly
in CI.
> - The benefit is that the portability e2e test is now actually
isolated, and the PR verification path is stable enough to catch
regressions instead of introducing its own nondeterministic failures.

## What Changed

- Hardened `cli/src/__tests__/company-import-export-e2e.test.ts` so
nested CLI subprocesses re-seed isolated `PAPERCLIP_CONFIG`,
`PAPERCLIP_HOME`, `PAPERCLIP_INSTANCE_ID`, `PAPERCLIP_CONTEXT`,
`PAPERCLIP_AUTH_STORE`, and throwaway `HOME` values instead of falling
back to ambient machine state.
- Added a regression assertion around `paperclipai context set --json`,
then cleared the temporary `context.json` so the isolation check and the
later export/import flow stay independent.
- Passed the same isolated `HOME` into the server subprocess so both
sides of the e2e harness are symmetric.
- Introduced locking in `scripts/ensure-plugin-build-deps.mjs` and
switched the server/plugin example `typecheck` scripts to use that
helper instead of launching concurrent raw `@paperclipai/plugin-sdk`
builds.
- Fixed the helper failure path so it releases the lock before exiting
non-zero, which prevents stale-lock timeouts during parallel typecheck
runs.

## Verification

- `pnpm vitest run cli/src/__tests__/company-import-export-e2e.test.ts
--project paperclipai`
- `pnpm --filter paperclipai typecheck`
- `pnpm -r typecheck`
- PR checks now pass on the current head, including `policy`, `verify`,
`e2e`, `security/snyk`, and `Greptile Review`.

## Risks

- Low risk. The product-facing behavior change is scoped to test harness
code in the CLI e2e suite.
- The CI stabilization changes only affect bootstrap/typecheck helper
paths for the server and plugin/example packages, but they do touch
shared verification plumbing; the main risk is changing how fresh build
artifacts are prepared in local/CI typecheck runs.

## Model Used

- Anthropic Claude via Paperclip `claude_local`, model
`claude-opus-4-7`, high-effort local coding agent, used for the initial
implementation and first peer-reviewed verification.
- OpenAI Codex via Paperclip `codex_local`, model `gpt-5.4`, high
reasoning-effort local coding agent with tool use, used for CI triage,
Greptile follow-up fixes, verification, and PR maintenance.
