<h2>v0.28.2</h2>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Fix tree shaking bug due to TypeScript import alias (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4507">#4507</a>)</p>
<p>This release fixes a bug that could cause esbuild to incorrectly
tree-shake imports that are used in a TypeScript type alias under
certain circumstances. Affected code uses a TypeScript-specific
<code>import</code> assignment and looks something like this:</p>
<pre lang="ts"><code>import Base from './dep.js';
import Alias = Base.SomeType;
</code></pre>
</li>
<li>
<p>Fix CSS minification bug involving <code>&</code> (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4497">#4497</a>)</p>
<p>This release fixes a bug where esbuild's CSS minifier incorrectly
removed a <code>&</code> when it was unsafe to do so. Here is an
example:</p>
<pre lang="css"><code>/* Original code */
.a .b {
& .b:not(& .c) {
color: red;
}
}
<p>/* Old output (with --minify) */<br />
.a .b{.b:not(& .c){color:red}}</p>
<p>/* New output (with --minify) */<br />
.a .b{& .b:not(& .c){color:red}}<br />
</code></pre></p>
<p>This should match <code><span class="a"><span
class="b"><span
class="b">yes</span></span></span></code>
but not <code><span class="a"><span
class="b">no</span></span></code>. The old
output incorrectly matched both.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Avoid overwriting input files without <code>--allow-overwrite</code>
(<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4484">#4484</a>)</p>
<p>For example: <code>esbuild input.js --outfile=input.js</code> tells
esbuild to overwrite <code>input.js</code> with the output of running
esbuild on it. This was supposed to already be prevented by default, but
it accidentally regressed in version 0.17.0 and apparently didn't have
any test coverage. The error message was being printed but the input
file was still being overwritten. Oops.</p>
<p>This release puts the original behavior back. With this release,
esbuild should now actually avoid overwriting input files unless
<code>--allow-overwrite</code> is explicitly present. This is done by
not writing out any files when a build error is encountered.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Fix incorrect code generated when using top-level await (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4498">#4498</a>)</p>
<p>Previously esbuild could generate code containing a syntax error in
complex scenarios involving top-level await used in a dependency cycle.
The problem was a missing <code>async</code> on one or more module
wrapper closures. With this release, esbuild now uses a fixed-point
iteration algorithm to correctly annotate all dependencies in the cycle
as needing an <code>async</code> module wrapper.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Fix a minification bug with lowered logical assignment operators (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4508">#4508</a>)</p>
<p>This release fixes a bug that could cause esbuild to generate
incorrect code for logical assignment operators when lowering them to an
older target environment. Specifically the lowering process requires
duplicating the left-hand side, but esbuild incorrectly failed to count
the duplicate as a new usage when the left-hand side is an identifier.
That then caused the minifier to believe that the left-hand side was
only used once and could attempt to incorrectly inline an initializer
into the first usage. This bug has now been fixed:</p>
<pre lang="js"><code>// Original code
function foo() {
let x
bar(x ||= {})
</code></pre>
</li>
</ul>

## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - Paperclip runs across the CLI, server, adapters, plugins, CI, and
container images.
> - These surfaces declared different Node.js versions from 20 through
24.
> - A newer `@types/node` major can expose APIs that the supported
runtime does not provide.
> - Node.js 20 is no longer a suitable project baseline, and Node.js 24
is the current LTS line.
> - This pull request sets Node.js 24.11.0 as one repository-wide
baseline, adds a drift check, and gives users actionable startup
guidance when their runtime is too old.
> - The benefit is one clear runtime contract for development, release,
installation, and published packages.
## Linked Issues or Issue Description
Refs #2734
Refs #11727
Refs #739
## What Changed
- Require Node.js 24.11.0 or newer in all 42 package manifests and
runtime checks.
- Use Node.js 24 in GitHub Actions, Docker images, smoke images, sandbox
setup, portable installs, and esbuild targets.
- Align every direct `@types/node` declaration on `^24.0.0`.
- Prevent Dependabot from opening major `@types/node` upgrades without a
matching runtime decision.
- Add `.nvmrc` and a CI policy check for Node version drift.
- Update ACP version gates, tests, and user documentation for the new
minimum.
- Print a non-blocking warning on CLI and server startup when Node is
unsupported, with remediation through a version manager or the
documented downloaded `install.sh` workflow.
- Deduplicate that warning when `paperclipai run` boots the CLI and
server in the same process.
## Verification
- `node scripts/check-node-version-policy.mjs`
- `node --check scripts/check-node-version-policy.mjs`
- `node --check cli/esbuild.config.mjs`
- `node --check scripts/generate-npm-package-json.mjs`
- `bash -n scripts/install.sh scripts/test-install-sh-docker.sh
scripts/e2e-install-lifecycle.sh`
- Parsed all 42 package manifests and confirmed `engines.node` is
`>=24.11.0`.
- `git diff --check`
- `vitest run
packages/adapter-utils/src/sandbox-install-command.test.ts` passed with
3 tests.
- `vitest run cli/src/node-version.test.ts` passed with 4 tests.
- Directly exercised the shared warning helper for unsupported-version
messaging and same-process deduplication.
- The focused exe.dev suite could not resolve the locally unbuilt plugin
SDK from this isolated worktree. A full offline workspace install was
also blocked because the package-manager signature verifier requires
registry access. The full suite was not run locally; draft CI performs a
clean install and evaluates the wider impact.
## Risks
- This is a breaking runtime change for users, plugins, and deployments
that still use Node.js 20 or 22.
- Published workspace packages will now produce an engine warning or
failure in strict package managers on older Node.js releases.
- Node.js 24 can reveal dependency, native module, Playwright, or agent
CLI compatibility issues in CI.
- The bootstrap installer now installs Node.js 24 when the current
runtime is older than 24.11.0.
- The portable sandbox fallback is pinned to Node.js 24.11.0 and depends
on that upstream tarball remaining available.
- Unsupported runtimes continue booting after a warning, so a later
incompatibility can still fail at its point of use.
- The CLI and server share the warning policy through the published
`@paperclipai/shared` package; packaging checks must keep that subpath
export available.
- This PR does not commit `pnpm-lock.yaml` because repository policy
assigns lockfile generation to CI.

## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip is the open source app people use to manage AI agents for
work.
> - The board UI, plugin examples, and plugin SDK all share the same
React dependency graph.
> - Dependabot PR #8471 raised `react` and `@types/react`, but left
`react-dom` and `@types/react-dom` on older 19.x ranges.
> - That let dependency resolution install incompatible React runtime
versions, which makes React refuse to run and breaks UI-oriented test
suites.
> - Current PR policy keeps `pnpm-lock.yaml` owned by CI for
non-dependabot authors, so this PR updates manifests and lets CI
regenerate the lockfile artifact.
> - This pull request replaces #8471 with a complete React toolchain
alignment across the package manifests it touched.
> - The benefit is a single React 19.2.7 runtime graph that keeps
dependency consumers from deduping onto a stale `react-dom` patch.
## Linked Issues or Issue Description
Refs #8471
This PR replaces #8471, which updated `react` and `@types/react` but
left `react-dom` and `@types/react-dom` behind. The resulting dependency
graph can install mismatched `react` and `react-dom` versions, producing
React's incompatible-version runtime error in UI tests.
## What Changed
- Aligned `react-dom` package ranges to `^19.2.7` anywhere the React
dependency set is present.
- Aligned `@types/react-dom` package ranges to the 19.2 line.
- Kept the `react@^19.2.7` and `@types/react@^19.2.17` bumps from #8471.
- Added root pnpm overrides for `react` and `react-dom` so peer-only
consumers resolve to the same 19.2.7 runtime instead of a stale patch.
- Left `pnpm-lock.yaml` out of the PR, per the PR workflow policy; CI
regenerates and shares the lockfile artifact when manifests change.
## Verification
- `cd ui && NODE_ENV=test npx vitest run` passed locally before handoff:
243 files / 1739 tests.
- `NODE_ENV=development pnpm install --lockfile-only --ignore-scripts
--no-frozen-lockfile` passed locally on the rebased branch.
- Confirmed regenerated `pnpm-lock.yaml` resolves `react` and
`react-dom` to 19.2.7 and contains no `react@19.2.4` /
`react-dom@19.2.4` entries.
- GitHub Actions are green on this PR, including `policy`, `Typecheck +
Release Registry`, all general test shards, `Build`, `e2e`, and
`verify`.
- Greptile completed at 5/5 with zero unresolved threads.
## Risks
Low risk. This is a dependency-version alignment only, but React
dependency changes can expose package-manager resolution issues. The
root overrides intentionally constrain the React runtime pair to the
same patch version to avoid that class of failure.
## Model Used
OpenAI Codex based on GPT-5, using command-line tool execution and
GitHub CLI operations in a Paperclip-managed workspace.

<p>Disallow <code>\</code> in local development server HTTP requests (<a
href="https://github.com/evanw/esbuild/security/advisories/GHSA-g7r4-m6w7-qqqr">GHSA-g7r4-m6w7-qqqr</a>)</p>
<p>This release fixes a security issue where HTTP requests to esbuild's
local development server could traverse outside of the serve directory
on Windows using a <code>\</code> backslash character. It happened due
to the use of Go's <code>path.Clean()</code> function, which only
handles Unix-style <code>/</code> characters. HTTP requests with paths
containing <code>\</code> are no longer allowed.</p>
<p>Thanks to <a

<p>Add integrity checks to the Deno API (<a
href="https://github.com/evanw/esbuild/security/advisories/GHSA-gv7w-rqvm-qjhr">GHSA-gv7w-rqvm-qjhr</a>)</p>
<p>The previous release of esbuild added integrity checks to esbuild's
npm install script. This release also adds integrity checks to esbuild's
Deno install script. Now esbuild's Deno API will also fail with an error
if the downloaded esbuild binary contains something other than the
expected content.</p>
<p>Note that esbuild's Deno API installs from
<code>registry.npmjs.org</code> by default, but allows the
<code>NPM_CONFIG_REGISTRY</code> environment variable to override this
with a custom package registry. This change means that the esbuild
executable served by <code>NPM_CONFIG_REGISTRY</code> must now match the
expected content.</p>
<p>Thanks to <a
href="https://github.com/sondt99"><code>@sondt99</code></a> for
reporting this issue.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Avoid inlining <code>using</code> and <code>await using</code>
declarations (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4482">#4482</a>)</p>
<p>Previously esbuild's minifier sometimes incorrectly inlined
<code>using</code> and <code>await using</code> declarations into
subsequent uses of that declaration, which then fails to dispose of the
resource correctly. This bug happened because inlining was done for
<code>let</code> and <code>const</code> declarations by avoiding doing
it for <code>var</code> declarations, which no longer worked when more
declaration types were added. Here's an example:</p>
<pre lang="js"><code>// Original code
{
using x = new Resource()
x.activate()
}
<p>// Old output (with --minify)<br />
new Resource().activate();</p>
<p>// New output (with --minify)<br />
{using e=new Resource;e.activate()}<br />
</code></pre></p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Fix module evaluation when an error is thrown (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4461">#4461</a>,
<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/pull/4467">#4467</a>)</p>
<p>If an error is thrown during module evaluation, esbuild previously
didn't preserve the state of the module for subsequent module
references. This was observable if <code>import()</code> or
<code>require()</code> is used to import a module multiple times. The
thrown error is supposed to be thrown by every call to
<code>import()</code> or <code>require()</code>, not just the first.
With this release, esbuild will now throw the same error every time you
call <code>import()</code> or <code>require()</code> on a module that
throws during its evaluation.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Fix some edge cases around the <code>new</code> operator (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4477">#4477</a>)</p>
<p>Previously esbuild incorrectly printed certain edge cases involving
complex expressions inside the target of a <code>new</code> expression
(specifically an optional chain and/or a tagged template literal). The
generated code for the <code>new</code> target was not correctly wrapped
with parentheses, and either contained a syntax error or had different
semantics. These edge cases have been fixed so that they now correctly
wrap the <code>new</code> target in parentheses. Here is an example of
some affected code:</p>
<pre lang="js"><code>// Original code
new (foo()`bar`)()
new (foo()?.bar)()
<p>// Old output<br />
new foo()<code>bar</code>();<br />
new (foo())?.bar();</p>
<p></code></pre></p>

<p>Fix module evaluation when an error is thrown (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4461">#4461</a>,
<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/pull/4467">#4467</a>)</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Fix some edge cases around the <code>new</code> operator (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4477">#4477</a>)</p>
<pre lang="js"><code>// Original code
new (foo()`bar`)()
new (foo()?.bar)()
<p>// Old output<br />
new foo()<code>bar</code>();<br />
new (foo())?.bar();<br />
</code></pre></p>

## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies
> - Test infrastructure across server, ui, packages/* runs on Vitest
> - Dependabot opened a narrow bump (3.2.4 → 3.2.6), but the wider
workspace is on 3.2.4 and the major-version bridge to v4 needs a
coordinated change set across configs and tests
> - Staying on 3.x indefinitely leaves us behind on Vitest 4 (perf,
pool, and config improvements) and forces repeated patch-only dependabot
churn
> - This pull request upgrades Vitest to 4.1.8 across the workspace,
updates `server/vitest.config.ts` and `scripts/run-vitest-stable.mjs`
for the new API, and adjusts two UI tests for the new assertion
semantics
> - The benefit is a single, coherent Vitest 4 upgrade that supersedes
#7570 and gets us on the supported major line
## What Changed
- Bump `vitest` from `3.2.4` to `4.1.8` across root, `server`, `ui`, and
all `packages/*` (including plugin examples and sandbox providers)
- Update `server/vitest.config.ts` for Vitest 4 config surface
- Update `scripts/run-vitest-stable.mjs` to match the new runner
behavior
- Adjust `ui/src/components/CommentThread.test.tsx` and
`ui/src/components/MarkdownEditor.test.tsx` for Vitest 4 matcher/timing
semantics
- Refresh `pnpm-lock.yaml`
## Verification
- `pnpm install` resolves cleanly with the new lockfile
- `pnpm -w -r test` (server, ui, packages) runs under Vitest 4.1.8
## Risks
- Major-version Vitest bump: behavioral changes in pools, fake timers,
and matcher strictness can surface flake. Test config and the two UI
tests were updated to match v4 semantics; broader test runs should be
watched on CI before merge.
- Supersedes dependabot PR #7570 (3.2.4 → 3.2.6); that PR should be
closed.

<h2>v0.28.0</h2>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Add support for <code>with { type: 'text' }</code> imports (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4435">#4435</a>)</p>
<p>The <a href="https://github.com/tc39/proposal-import-text">import
text</a> proposal has reached stage 3 in the TC39 process, which means
that it's recommended for implementation. It has also already been
implemented by <a
href="https://docs.deno.com/examples/importing_text/">Deno</a> and <a
href="https://bun.com/docs/guides/runtime/import-html">Bun</a>. So with
this release, esbuild also adds support for it. This behaves exactly the
same as esbuild's existing <a
href="https://esbuild.github.io/content-types/#text"><code>text</code>
loader</a>. Here's an example:</p>
<pre lang="js"><code>import string from './example.txt' with { type:
'text' }
console.log(string)
</code></pre>
</li>
<li>
<p>Add integrity checks to fallback download path (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4343">#4343</a>)</p>
<p>Installing esbuild via npm is somewhat complicated with several
different edge cases (see <a
href="https://esbuild.github.io/getting-started/#additional-npm-flags">esbuild's
documentation</a> for details). If the regular installation of esbuild's
platform-specific package fails, esbuild's install script attempts to
download the platform-specific package itself (first with the
<code>npm</code> command, and then with a HTTP request to
<code>registry.npmjs.org</code> as a last resort).</p>
<p>This last resort path previously didn't have any integrity checks.
With this release, esbuild will now verify that the hash of the
downloaded binary matches the expected hash for the current release.
This means the hashes for all of esbuild's platform-specific binary
packages will now be embedded in the top-level <code>esbuild</code>
package. Hopefully this should work without any problems. But just in
case, this change is being done as a breaking change release.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Update the Go compiler from 1.25.7 to 1.26.1</p>
<p>This upgrade should not affect anything. However, there have been
some significant internal changes to the Go compiler, so esbuild could
potentially behave differently in certain edge cases:</p>
<ul>
<li>It now uses the <a
href="https://go.dev/doc/go1.26#new-garbage-collector">new garbage
collector</a> that comes with Go 1.26.</li>
<li>The Go compiler is now more aggressive with allocating memory on the
stack.</li>
<li>The executable format that the Go linker uses has undergone several
changes.</li>
<li>The WebAssembly build now unconditionally makes use of the sign
extension and non-trapping floating-point to integer conversion
instructions.</li>
</ul>
<p>You can read the <a href="https://go.dev/doc/go1.26">Go 1.26 release
notes</a> for more information.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h2>v0.27.7</h2>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Fix lowering of define semantics for TypeScript parameter properties
(<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/evanw/esbuild/issues/4421">#4421</a>)</p>
<p>The previous release incorrectly generated class fields for
TypeScript parameter properties even when the configured target
environment does not support class fields. With this release, the
generated class fields will now be correctly lowered in this case:</p>
<pre lang="ts"><code>// Original code
class Foo {
constructor(public x = 1) {}
y = 2
}
<p>// Old output (with --loader=ts --target=es2021)<br />
class Foo {<br />

}</p>
<p>// New output (with --loader=ts --target=es2021)<br />

## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies.
> - Plugins extend the control plane with optional capabilities such as
LLM Wiki.
> - LLM Wiki needs its package assets and plugin-owned database
migrations to work when installed from the packaged plugin.
> - The bundled spaces migration used validation-hostile dynamic SQL,
and the packaged plugin could omit non-dist runtime assets.
> - This pull request makes the LLM Wiki package include its required
assets and cuts the spaces migration over to explicit, idempotent SQL
that passes the production plugin database validator.
> - The benefit is a simpler plugin install path that validates and
applies the bundled LLM Wiki migrations without adding plugin-specific
legacy handling to Paperclip core.
## What Changed
- Added the LLM Wiki package asset allowlist so agents, migrations,
skills, templates, dist output, and README are included when packaged.
- Renamed the bootstrap `.gitignore` template to `gitignore.template`
and updated the runtime lookup so package tooling does not drop the
hidden template file.
- Relaxed plugin migration validation to allow namespace-scoped
`INSERT`/`UPDATE` backfills and `CREATE INDEX` statements while
continuing to reject destructive or cross-namespace SQL.
- Replaced the LLM Wiki spaces migration's dynamic constraint-drop DO
block with explicit `DROP CONSTRAINT IF EXISTS` statements.
- Replaced fragile regex-source dispatch in SQL reference extraction
with explicit capture-group descriptors.
- Added regression coverage that applies the bundled LLM Wiki migrations
through the production validator and checks the expected constraints.
## Verification
- `pnpm exec vitest run --project @paperclipai/server
server/src/__tests__/plugin-database.test.ts --pool=forks
--poolOptions.forks.isolate=true`
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/plugin-llm-wiki build`
- `git diff --check`
- Confirmed `pnpm-lock.yaml` is not included in the branch diff.
## Risks
- Low migration risk for current users: LLM Wiki spaces are new, so this
intentionally cuts over the plugin migration instead of adding legacy
handling in core.
- Validator behavior is broader than before, but still requires fully
qualified plugin namespace targets, blocks deletes/destructive DDL, and
keeps public table access read-only and allowlisted.
> Checked [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md); this is a targeted plugin
packaging/migration fix and does not duplicate planned core feature
work. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`.
## Model Used
- OpenAI Codex, GPT-5 based coding agent, tool-enabled local repo
access, reasoning mode managed by the Paperclip/Codex runtime. Exact
context window was not surfaced in this session.

## Thinking Path
> - Paperclip orchestrates AI agents for zero-human companies.
> - The plugin system is the extension surface for optional product
capabilities without baking every workflow into core.
> - The LLM Wiki plugin package was reviewed in stacked PR #5592, which
targeted `pap-9173-llm-wiki-rest`.
> - The stack base PR #5597 merged to `master` before #5592 was merged
into that branch, so the plugin package never reached `master`.
> - A direct PR from `pap-9173-llm-wiki-rest` back to `master` would be
noisy because that branch has diverged from current `master`.
> - This pull request reapplies the reviewed
`packages/plugins/plugin-llm-wiki/` package onto current `master` and
updates Docker deps-stage manifest coverage.
> - The branch intentionally no longer changes `pnpm-workspace.yaml`
after maintainer feedback; because the new package is now a root
workspace importer, the remaining integration question is how
maintainers want the root lockfile handled under the current PR policy.
## What Changed
- Added the LLM Wiki plugin package under
`packages/plugins/plugin-llm-wiki/` from the merged PR #5592 head.
- Preserved the post-review cleanup from #5592: generated
design/screenshot artifacts are not committed, and `src/ui/index.tsx` /
`src/wiki.ts` are small public entrypoints.
- Added the new plugin package manifest to the Docker deps stage so
policy can validate package manifest coverage.
- Removed the earlier `pnpm-workspace.yaml` exclusion per maintainer
request, so the plugin is included by the existing `packages/plugins/*`
workspace glob.
## Verification
Current head:
- PGlite migration harness: ran migrations 001-003, verified old
non-space distillation unique constraints were removed, inserted
duplicate cursor and work-item keys in a second space, then reran
migration 003 successfully
- `node ./scripts/check-docker-deps-stage.mjs`
- `git diff --check`
Known current-head install result after removing the workspace
exclusion:
- `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` fails because `pnpm-lock.yaml` has no
importer for `packages/plugins/plugin-llm-wiki/package.json`.
Previously verified on the same plugin source before the
workspace-exclusion removal:
- `pnpm --filter @paperclipai/plugin-sdk build`
- `cd packages/plugins/plugin-llm-wiki && pnpm install --lockfile=false
&& pnpm test`
## Risks
- The branch now includes `packages/plugins/plugin-llm-wiki` in the root
workspace but does not update `pnpm-lock.yaml`. Root frozen install will
fail until maintainers choose a lockfile path that fits repo policy.
- Committing `pnpm-lock.yaml` directly on this PR conflicts with the
current PR policy check, while excluding the package from
`pnpm-workspace.yaml` was rejected in maintainer feedback.
- The package includes UI code already reviewed in #5592; generated
screenshot/design artifacts were intentionally removed per maintainer
request, so visual review should regenerate screenshots locally if
needed.
- The package depends on plugin host support from #5597, which is
already merged to `master`.
> For core feature work, check [`ROADMAP.md`](ROADMAP.md) first and
discuss it in `#dev` before opening the PR. Feature PRs that overlap
with planned core work may need to be redirected — check the roadmap
first. See `CONTRIBUTING.md`.
## Model Used

enabled; context window not exposed.

Stack context: #5592 was merged into `pap-9173-llm-wiki-rest` after
#5597 had already merged that branch to `master`, so this follow-up PR
is needed to carry the plugin package itself into `master`.
