feat(reports): email a monthly CSV of active user emails to the owners (#783)
## What

Once a month, email a CSV with the email address of every non-deleted
user to the owners.

- New `email:user-emails-report` command builds the CSV and sends
`UserEmailsReportEmail` with it attached as `text/csv`.
- Scheduled `monthlyOn(1, '09:05')` in `Europe/Madrid`, next to the
other `email:*` jobs.
- Recipients come from a comma-separated `REPORT_RECIPIENTS` env var.
The command fails loudly (exit 1, nothing sent) when it is unset, rather
than silently skipping.

The `SoftDeletes` global scope on `User` already excludes deleted users,
so no extra `whereNull` is needed.

## ⚠️ Required before this ships

Set `REPORT_RECIPIENTS` in the production environment, or the scheduled
command will fail every month:

Values are trimmed and empty entries dropped, so trailing commas and
spaces are safe.

## QA

No UI surface, so this was QA'd the way it is actually used: running the
command against the real local database (2520 users, 85 soft-deleted)
with mail captured by Mailhog.

Tests: 2136 pass. `pint`, `phpstan`, `jscpd`, `crap`, `prettier` and
`eslint` all clean.

## Review notes

Two findings from review were raised rather than coded, since they are
product calls:

- **The export is not filtered by verification or consent.** It contains
every active address, including ~5.8% unverified ones. Literal "all
users", but those would bounce if the list is imported into a mail tool.
There is no marketing-consent flag anywhere in the schema, so nothing is
being ignored — just don't assume the list is filtered.
- **Privacy posture.** This puts the full user-email list into two
mailboxes every month, indefinitely, with no retention control. Worth a
conscious decision for an app positioned on not sharing user data.

`demo@whisper.money` is intentionally **not** excluded: the request was
every non-deleted user, and the existing exclusion precedent protects
the demo account from deletion, which is a different motive.

CSV formula injection (`=`, `+`, `-`, `@` local parts evaluating on
import into Sheets) was considered and skipped: zero such addresses
exist today and the only sensitive payload is the list itself, which the
recipients already own.

feat(subscriptions): end the trial experiment and make the trial length per plan (#762)
Ends the trial/pricing A/B/C experiment. Everyone gets the control offer
— a free trial — and the trial length becomes a per-plan setting.

**Note that monthly 15 → 7 is a new bet, not a rollback.** The control
arm was 15 days on both plans, and 7 days on monthly is a value the
experiment never tested (`reduced_trial` was monthly 3 / yearly 7). The
rationale is that the longer commitment earns the longer trial; it ships
here at the same time as the instrument that could measure it is
removed, so it will not be measurable as an isolated effect.

## Final experiment numbers

Archived here because `stats:experiment-funnel` and its collector are
deleted by this PR and the purge migration's `down()` is a no-op.

## What is deleted

- `App\Features\SubscriptionExperiment` (the Pennant A/B/C assignment)
and the `ExperimentOffer` service.
- The `pay_now` self-service refund: `RefundSelfServe`, the
`settings.billing.refund` route, the controller actions and Discord
embeds, the money-back card in billing settings, and the
`stripe:verify-refund` sandbox command.
- The weekly `stats:experiment-funnel` report, its collector, and the
`ProportionSignificance` / `BinomialProportion` helpers it was the only
caller of, plus its schedule entry.
- The `subscriptions.experiment.*` config block and the orphaned
`es`/`fr` translation strings.
- A data migration purges the ~1,890 stored Pennant assignments.

`subscriptions.refunded_at` is deliberately **kept**: nothing reads it
anymore, but it is the only record of the 18 refunds the experiment
issued. The migration carries a comment saying so.

## Fixes found in review

- **The surviving funnel report was mis-scoring conversions.**
`SubscriptionFunnelCollector` compared every cancellation to one global
trial length. With trials now diverging per plan, a monthly subscriber
who was billed and cancelled on day 10 was scored as never having paid.
It now reads each subscription's own `trial_ends_at`, and the longest
plan trial is used only for deciding when a cohort is old enough to
score. Covered by two new tests.
- **The trial length swapped silently.** It lived on a single line under
the plan selector, which rewrote itself when the user switched plan. Now
that the plans genuinely differ, each plan card shows its own length.
- The report legend no longer quotes a single trial length for both
plans, and warns that the experiment weeks are still inside its window.

## Before merging

- [x] **Unset `SUBSCRIPTION_EXPERIMENT_STARTED_AT` in production** so no
new `pay_now` assignment happens while this waits. Anyone who checks out
under `pay_now` between now and the deploy is charged upfront and then
loses the one-tap refund they were promised at the point of payment.
Checked just before opening this PR: **0 `pay_now` subscriptions
currently inside the 3-day window**, so nobody is stranded today.
- [x] Drop the now-orphaned `SUBSCRIPTION_EXPERIMENT_*` variables from
the production env with the deploy.
- [x] If old containers are still serving while the purge migration
runs, a few assignments can be re-resolved and reappear. Harmless —
re-run `php artisan pennant:purge "App\Features\SubscriptionExperiment"`
once the deploy settles if you want the table clean.

Support note: a manual Stripe refund for a former `pay_now` user will
not disconnect their bank connections, which the automated flow used to
do.

## QA

Browser-tested against the running app:

- Paywall: annual card shows "15 days free", monthly card "7 days free";
the terms line under the selector follows the selected plan (15 ↔ 7);
mobile viewport renders fine.
- Billing settings: no money-back card for a free user or an active
subscriber; `POST /settings/billing/refund` returns 404.
- No console or network errors on any screen.
- `stats:subscription-funnel` still renders and posts.
- The purge migration leaves 0 `SubscriptionExperiment` rows.

Full suite green (2045 tests) apart from the known local-only
`DashboardTest` 409; `pint`, `lint`, `format` and `build` all clean.

fix(observability): stop our own page navigations from reporting fake network errors (#780)
## The issue

`AxiosError: Network Error` (PHP-LARAVEL-28) is the noisiest issue in
this project — 192 events / 75 users, `handled: no` — and it has been
archived as ambient connectivity noise several times, including by me.
The event distribution says otherwise:

Every one of those is a page that triggers a full-page navigation out of
the SPA, and the events skew heavily to Safari/macOS.

## The mechanism

Assigning `window.location` aborts every request still in flight.
Browsers report that abort to XHR through `onerror`, as a transport
failure rather than a cancellation — which is why it arrives as `Network
Error` and not `Request aborted`. Inertia rethrows it, so it lands as an
unhandled rejection.

The onboarding bank-connection step is the perfect generator: it polls
every 4s (`usePoll` in `pages/onboarding/index.tsx:124`) and *then*
sends the user to their bank with `window.location.href`
(`hooks/use-connect-flow.ts:219`). A poll dying mid-flight is close to
guaranteed.

So this is a bug report for a request that never failed. The point isn't
the volume — it's that until now a real "the user's connection dropped
and their action silently did nothing" was indistinguishable from our
own navigations.

## The change

`leavePage()` / `reloadPage()` record the departure; a `beforeSend`
predicate drops transport-level failures while that flag is set. It
follows the five sibling noise predicates already in `lib/sentry.ts`, so
Inertia's internals stay untouched. 13 call sites converted.

Commits are one-per-finding from the two reviews, and the two
interesting ones are corrections to my own first attempt:

- **`b7dc8dc6` — the first version was inert.** `HttpError`'s
constructor appends the request URL (`super(url ? \`${message}
(${url})\` : message)`), so Inertia's XHR client — the default in
v3.6.1, which we moved to in #769 — rejects with `Network error
(https://whisper.money/onboarding?step=create-account)`, not `Network
error`. My anchored regex matched neither. The 192 sampled events read
`AxiosError: Network Error` only because they were produced by **v2**,
which went through axios. Verified with a runtime probe against the
installed package, and the test row now carries the real string (it
fails against the previous pattern).
- **`09ea3b01` — the flag outlived the navigation.** I had it one-way on
the assumption it dies with the document. Two flows here keep the
document alive, both in the Safari/iOS population this issue skews to:
an **iOS PWA** hands the bank redirect to Safari and stays alive polling
(`pages/onboarding/index.tsx:121` documents this — it's why the poll
exists), and **bfcache** restores the heap when the user presses Back
from the bank or Stripe. Either way the user carries on in a live page
with reporting silenced for the rest of the session. Now cleared by a
persisted `pageshow` or by becoming visible again; neither can clear a
departure genuinely in progress, since a same-window redirect never
hides the page.

## Why `beforeSend` and not `router.on('networkError')`

Inertia does expose a cancellable event, and `preventDefault()` would
stop the rejection at the source. Don't — it also skips
`onPrefetchError`, which is where the cleanup lives:

A stale `inFlightRequests` entry isn't cosmetic: `add()` early-returns
whenever `findInFlight` hits, and `get()` returns it with a promise that
never settles — so that URL becomes un-prefetchable for the session and
a `Link` consuming it hangs. We have `prefetch` on the sidebar and user
menu. It would also suppress genuine errors unconditionally, which is
the opposite of the goal.

## Deliberately not done

**Feedback on a real network failure.** When an Inertia visit genuinely
fails, the user still gets nothing — they click and nothing happens. A
toast needs to exclude background prefetch and poll requests; v3 does
make that possible (`visit.prefetch` / `visit.poll` on
`router.on('start')`), so this is a scope call, not an impossibility.
Worth its own PR.

**A bad bank `redirect_url`.** Fails at the browser level, so it was
never a JS event — we lose nothing here, but we also have no in-app
feedback and the only trace is a connection stranded in `Pending`.
Separate ticket.

## Verification

369/369 JS tests, lint, format, `dry` (4.81% vs 5.40% threshold),
`build` and `build:ssr` all green. Each behavioural test was confirmed
to **fail** with its fix reverted — including the stale-count one, which
reproduces the wrong number on screen.

SSR needed care: `config/inertia.php` has it enabled and `ssr.tsx` globs
pages that import this module, so the listeners sit behind `typeof
window` and I verified the module imports cleanly in a node environment.

## Why this is a draft

Two things I'd rather you weighed:

1. **Suppressing errors fails silently.** If the gate is ever wrong we
go blind to a class of real failures, and no error tells us we stopped
getting errors — the same shape as the observability gap noted on #723.
The risk is bounded by the resets and the narrow message pattern, but
the direction of failure is under-reporting.
2. **My confidence here was already miscalibrated once.** The first
version passed every local check and one reviewer's independent
verification, and was still completely inert for the target traffic.
That argues for a human look rather than auto-merge.

The parts I'd merge without hesitation are `6a7059d4` (the onboarding
wrong-count fix, independent of all this) and `b7dc8dc6`. If you want
the observability change split from the onboarding one, say so and I'll
separate them.

Prod verification after deploy: PHP-LARAVEL-28 should stop accruing new
events on `/onboarding`, while `Network Error` events from users who
*stayed* on a page should keep arriving. If both go quiet, the gate is
too wide.

feat(mcp): budget tools — read, create, edit and delete (#779)
Budgets were the one part of the app a connected agent could not see. It
could
list transactions, categories and labels, but "am I still inside my food
budget
this month" had no answer, and setting a budget up meant leaving the
conversation. This adds the four tools that close that gap.

## Tools

Budgets hang off the user rather than off a space — that is how the app
already
decides which budgets a transaction feeds — so these tools take no
`space`
argument and cover the whole account, like the cashflow and net-worth
ones.

`update_budget` deliberately only takes `name` and `allocated_amount`.
The web
edit dialog locks the period length, start day and rollover behind an
explicit
message ("budgets are calculated historically"), and for good reason:
changing
them afterwards lets the next generated period overlap the one in
progress, so
the same transaction gets counted twice. To change those, or the tracked
categories, the agent deletes the budget and creates it again.

## Shared service, and one web behaviour change

Creating a budget seeds two periods and dispatches the historical
backfill for
both; that logic now lives in `BudgetService`, called by
`BudgetController` and
by the tools, instead of being copied into the MCP layer.

**This changes one thing on the web:** editing a budget's amount now
applies to
the period in progress as well as future ones. The old filter was
`start_date >= today`, which skipped a period that had already started —
so on
any day but the first of the period, saving a new amount appeared to do
nothing.
The edit dialog already promised the new behaviour ("This will update
the
allocated amount for the current and future periods") and prefills the
current
period's amount, so the code was the side that was wrong. Covered by a
new test
in `BudgetTest`.

## Fix: a start day that could hang period generation

`period_start_day` means a day of the month for monthly budgets and a
day of the
week for weekly ones. A weekly budget carrying a value above 6 sent
`calculatePeriodDates()` into `while ($date->dayOfWeek !== $dayOfWeek)`,
walking
backwards forever looking for a day that cannot exist. The web form caps
the
input at 6, but the server-side rule never did, so the tools were the
first
surface that could reach it — and once such a row exists, the daily
`budgets:generate-periods` command hits it and stops generating periods
**for
every user**.

Two changes: the tools validate the range against `period_type`, and the
generator takes the value modulo 7 so no caller can spin. Verified
against a row
doctored to `weekly` + `15`: it now resolves to a normal week instead of
hanging.

## Reviews

Both review passes ran; the notable ones applied beyond the two above:

- `remaining_amount` no longer adds the carried-over amount. The budget
cards,
the spending chart and the limit emails all measure against the
allocated
amount alone, so the old formula meant an agent quoting a number no
screen
  shows. `carried_over_amount` is still reported as its own field.
- The period reports `processing_historical`, so an agent can tell
"nothing
spent" from "backfill still running" instead of trusting a prose caveat.
- The category/label hints say the ids must be ones the user owns —
`list_categories` is space-scoped and can return a co-member's, which a
budget
  cannot track.
- Request id normalisation moved onto `McpTool` as `requestedIds()`,
shared with
`labelsInSpace`, which no longer runs a query just to build an empty
result.

Deliberately not applied: the "at least one category or label" and "only
one
catch-all" rules stay duplicated between `StoreBudgetRequest` and
`create_budget`. Unifying them would change the web error key
`selection`, which
the create dialog renders, and the two audiences want different wording
— the
agent gets told what to send next.

## QA

Driven over the real `/mcp` endpoint with a Sanctum token, since there
is no UI
surface:

- `tools/list` advertises all four with the right annotations and
schemas
  (`delete_budget` destructive, `list_budgets` read-only).
- `create_budget` → the response comes back with `processing_historical:
true`;
after draining the queue, the €120 transaction already on the account is
  attached and `spent_amount` reads 12000, `remaining_amount` 38000.
- `update_budget` to 60000 → the August period moves to 60000, the
closed July
  period keeps 50000.
- `delete_budget` → gone from `list_budgets`, transaction still there.
- Refused as expected: a read-only token, a weekly budget with
`period_start_day`
  15, a budget tracking nothing, and an unknown budget id.
- `mcp_tool_calls` recorded only the four calls that did something, not
the
  rejections.

`chatgpt-app-submission.json` gains the four tools with their hint
justifications, plus a budget test case, so the submitted manifest keeps
matching
what the server serves (`ToolAnnotationsTest` enforces the count).

feat(roadmap): add a public roadmap page mirrored from UserJot (#778)
## What

A public `/roadmap` page in the landing's own style, listing the UserJot
board so visitors can see what is being built, and links to it from the
landing header (before GitHub and Discord) and footer.

## How

UserJot has no public API, so the page reads the same tRPC endpoints its
own frontend calls (`x1.roadmap.getPage`, `x1.submission.getPage`, both
keyed by an `x-host` header) and caches the whole result for a day.

- **Dates.** The roadmap listing only knows when a submission was
*opened*, which for shipped work is months before it moved — nearly
every item would read "Jan 2026". The date a submission last changed
status lives on its detail endpoint, so those are fetched concurrently
with `Http::pool` and fall back to the creation date when a submission
has never moved.
- **Order.** Planned → in progress → shipped, and within a status the
most recently moved item first.
- **Bodies.** Submissions are written in Markdown by whoever opened
them. Rather than pull in a renderer for text we only show three lines
of, the emphasis markers are stripped and the body is collapsed into a
single paragraph, clamped with `line-clamp-3`. Each title links to its
ticket (new tab), so the full text is one click away.
- **Failure.** An unreachable UserJot renders the empty state with a
link to the board, not a 500, and the failure is not cached.

The page is also in `sitemap.xml`.

## Notes

- The mobile pill header hides its GitHub and Discord buttons (`hidden
sm:flex` inside an `sm:hidden` container), so a link there would never
be visible. The footer link is how mobile visitors reach the page; its
row got `flex-wrap` since it now holds five items.
- No pagination: there are 20 submissions and the request limit is 50.

## Testing

- `tests/Feature/RoadmapTest.php` covers status grouping, the
status-change date and its fallback, the ordering, the one-fetch-per-day
cache, and the unreachable-UserJot empty state.
- QA'd in Chrome: desktop light and dark, and mobile.
- `pint`, `prettier`, `eslint`, `jscpd` and `crap` all clean.

feat(landing): stop auto-redirecting signed-in visitors to the dashboard (#777)a
## Why

Landing on `/` while signed in mounted a dialog that counted down from 3
seconds
and then navigated to the dashboard. It had no close button, no
`onOpenChange`
and no overlay dismissal, so the only way to read the public page was to
catch
the `Cancel` button in time — an involuntary navigation and a keyboard
trap.

`/` is now a normal public page: it behaves like `/privacy` and
`/terms`, which
never mounted the dialog.

## What changed

- Deleted `authenticated-redirect-dialog.tsx` and its vitest file, its
usage in
  `welcome.tsx`, and the `auth` prop read that had no other consumer.
- Pruned the 4 orphaned translation keys from `lang/es.json` and
`lang/fr.json`
  (`Redirect progress`, `Redirecting to your dashboard`,
`You are being redirected in 3 seconds.`, `Go now`). `lang/en.json`
never had
them, and `Redirecting...` was kept — the onboarding step still uses it.
- Pointed the in-page CTAs at the dashboard for a signed-in visitor,
labelled
`Go to Dashboard`, and hid the demo link. `/register` and `/login` sit
behind
Fortify's guest middleware, so those CTAs were the remaining trampoline:
clicking `Get Started Free` bounced you to the dashboard under copy
promising
a signup, and `Check Demo` (`/login?demo=1`) silently did nothing
because the
demo credentials are prefilled on a page a signed-in user never reaches.
This
  follows the pattern already in `components/partials/header.tsx`.
- Added `tests/Browser/LandingPageTest.php`. The redirect was
client-side, so a
Feature test asserting `GET /` renders `welcome` would have passed
before this
change too — the browser test waits past the old 3s timer and asserts
the path
  is still `/`.

## Deliberately out of scope

- **The PWA still redirects.** `welcome.tsx` sends anyone in standalone
display-mode to `/dashboard`, guests included. That one is auth-agnostic
and
  serves a different purpose — the installed app should not open on the
marketing page, and `site.webmanifest` pins `start_url` to `/dashboard`.
Left
  as is.
- **The error boundary still targets `dashboard()`, not `/`.** The
comment
explaining "not `/`" is gone because its premise was this dialog, but
the
target is unchanged: `/` is the marketing page, the dashboard is the app
entry
point. Note the PWA trampoline above before anyone "simplifies" it to
`/`.
- **Plan-card CTAs for a signed-in visitor without a subscription** land
on
  `/dashboard` and are then bounced to the paywall by the `subscribed`
middleware — same destination as before, one hop fewer. Routing them
straight
  to `/subscribe` with an upsell source would be a separate change.

## QA

Real browser run against the dev server, signed in as a verified,
onboarded,
subscribed user — 14/14 checks:

- Guest: hero and plan CTAs still point at `/register`, `Get Started`
copy
  intact, `Check Demo` present, no `Go to Dashboard` in the body.
- Signed in: no dialog appears, still on `/` after ~8 seconds, page
content
  readable with no modal overlay.
- Signed in: every body CTA points at `/dashboard` and reads `Go to
Dashboard`,
  no `/register` or `/login` link left in the body, `Check Demo` hidden.
- Clicking a CTA lands on the dashboard. No uncaught JS errors.

`tests/Browser/LandingPageTest.php` passes locally (1 test, 3
assertions).
`pint --test`, `format:check`, `lint`, `dry` and `crap
--base=origin/main` all
pass.

refactor(settings): move the last two settings tables onto the shared table and hook (#775)
## Why

#770 extracted `SettingsTable` for the categories and labels pages and
noted that `accounts.tsx` and `automation-rules.tsx` repeat the same
markup. This is that follow-up.

Two clusters remained across the four settings pages:

1. **The table markup** — 30 lines of header groups, body, and empty
row, still copied in `accounts` and `automation-rules`.
2. **The table setup** — all four declared the same four pieces of state
and the same `useReactTable` call with the same six options, differing
only in `data` and (for labels) the initial sort.

## What changed

**`useSettingsTable(data, columns, initialSorting?)`** — a new hook
owning the sorting / filtering / column-visibility state and the
tanstack setup. All four pages use it, so the setup exists once:

**`SettingsTable`** now renders `accounts` and `automation-rules` too,
each passing its own row component through `renderRow`.

## Behaviour

One visual change: `SettingsTable`'s container goes from
`overflow-hidden` to `overflow-x-auto` — which is what `accounts.tsx`
already used, being the widest of the four tables. Keeping
`overflow-hidden` would have clipped it on narrow screens; the other
three pages only notice when their table outgrows the container, and
scrolling is the better answer there than cutting content off.

Everything else is a move: same columns, same rows, same empty messages,
same client-side sorting and filtering.

## Metrics

Measured against `main` (which already has #766–#770):

#770.

feat(accounts): count shared accounts at the owner's percentage (#750)
## Why

Some accounts are shared. A joint account funded 50/50 with a partner
holds money that is only half yours, so its expenses and income should
only count towards your figures by half — otherwise the dashboard and
the cashflow screen overstate both sides of every month.

## What

An account can now be configured with **the share of it you actually
own**, in Settings → Accounts → Edit account.

- **Transactions are always weighted** by that percentage. This covers
the cashflow screen (summary, sankey, trend, category breakdown) and the
dashboard (cashflow summary, monthly spending, top categories).
- **Balances stay at face value by default**, so an account keeps
matching what the bank shows. An opt-in checkbox — only offered below
100% — applies the same percentage to the balance as well, which then
flows through net worth, its evolution, and the account cards.

Defaults are 100% / opt-in off, so existing users see no change at all.

## How

The share is computed at exactly two choke points, one per code path:

- **PHP** — `ConvertsTransactionCurrency::convertTransactionAmount()`
applies `Account::shareOfAmount()` after the currency conversion,
covering every row-by-row analytics consumer.
- **SQL** — `Transaction::OWNED_AMOUNT_SQL` plus the
`joinOwningAccount()` scope weigh the four aggregate queries that never
hydrate models.

Balances go through `BalanceLookup::forAccounts()`, the single point
every net-worth, evolution and account-metrics reader already shares —
so they all stay consistent for free, while the surfaces that must show
the real bank figure (the balance editor, imports, bank sync) read
`account_balances` directly and are untouched.

`ownership_percentage` is a **signed** `tinyInteger` on purpose: MySQL
promotes `signed * unsigned` to `BIGINT UNSIGNED`, which overflows on
the negative amount of an expense. A test caught this.

## Deliberate boundaries

- **Transaction rows keep showing the real amount.** A row should say
what the bank actually charged; only totals are your share.
- **The balance editor writes the full amount**, and now says so when
the account is shared — that is what stops a shared balance being halved
again on every correction.
- **Percentages are whole numbers, 1–100.** A three-way split (33.33%)
is not expressible yet.
- **Configurable on edit only.** `StoreAccountRequest` and the create
form are unchanged, so a new joint account counts at 100% until you edit
it.

## Known gap (follow-up)

**Budgets are not weighted.** `budget_transactions.amount` is a snapshot
written at assignment time, so a 50% account still counts at 100% in
budget spend, carry-over and threshold alerts. Fixing it properly needs
the write path weighted, a re-snapshot when the percentage changes, and
a backfill of existing rows — a separate PR rather than a line in this
one. Until then a shared account can read €400 on the dashboard and €800
in Budgets for the same category.

Loan/mortgage *projections* also seed off the raw latest balance, so a
shared **loan** with the balance opt-in on draws a step at today's date.
Narrow, and follow-up material.

## Testing

`tests/Feature/SharedAccountOwnershipTest.php` covers every weighted
endpoint, net worth with and without the balance opt-in, the 1–100
validation, and pins the PHP and SQL rounding to the same answer on an
uneven share (33% of an odd amount).

Manual QA on real local data (June 2026, account "Daily" set to 50%):

refactor(frontend): call backend routes through Wayfinder instead of literal URLs (#772)
Follow-up to the Inertia v3 upgrade (#769). While auditing whether the
frontend used Wayfinder's current API, I found **32 HTTP call sites
across 16 files that built their URL by hand** — every one of which
already had a generated Wayfinder action sitting unused.

## Why this matters

Wayfinder exists so a route rename fails at **compile** time. A
hand-written `'/api/transactions/bulk'` fails at **runtime**, in
production, on a path a unit test can't catch because the tests mock
`axios`. The worst offender was `services/transaction-sync.ts` — the
offline sync service — which had five of them.

I verified each URL against `php artisan route:list` before changing it;
there were no missing routes, only unused generated ones.

## Query strings got simpler

The endpoints with parameters were assembling `URLSearchParams` by hand.
The generated `.url({ query })` helper does it, so that scaffolding is
gone:

`lib/import-config-storage.ts` also loses its local `configUrl()`
helper, which only existed to interpolate an account id.

## Two aliases, on purpose

`transaction-sync.ts` and `import-transactions-button.tsx` import with
`as` aliases because the plain names collide with a method (`update`,
`store`, `destroy`) and a `useState` variable (`importData`) already in
those files. Named imports are kept everywhere so tree-shaking still
works.

## Verification

- `bun run test` — **356/356, with zero test changes.** That is the
useful signal here: `transaction-sync.test.ts` asserts `axios.delete`
was called with the literal `'/transactions/txn-1'`, and it still
passes, so the generated URLs are byte-identical to the strings they
replaced.
- `bun run types` — no new errors. (`transaction-sync.ts:45` and the
`.test.tsx` matcher errors are pre-existing; the former just shifted
line number as imports were added.)
- `bun run build`, `bun run lint`, `bun run format`, `bun run dry` —
green.

### Browser check

Tests mock `axios`, so a wrong URL would still pass them. I exercised
the rewritten endpoints in a real browser and captured the actual
network traffic — all **200**, query strings identical to what the
manual code produced:

## Out of scope

11 hardcoded **navigation** URLs remain (`href="/register"`,
`href="/privacy"`, `router.visit('/dashboard')`), mostly on the
marketing pages. They are static routes with a much lower rename risk,
so I left them for a separate pass rather than widen this diff.

refactor(settings): dedupe the categories and labels pages (#770)
## Why

`settings/categories.tsx` and `settings/labels.tsx` were the last big
duplication cluster after the landing page (#768): 6 clone pairs between
and within them, ~100 duplicated lines.

They are the same page with a different record type:

- the trailing `...` dropdown with Edit / Delete
- the right-click context menu on each row, with the same two items
- the pair of dialog mounts wired to two `useState` flags — written
**twice per page**, once for the dropdown and once for the context menu
- 39 lines of table markup (header groups, body, empty row) differing
only in the row component and the empty message

## What changed

Three shared pieces:

### Why not the existing DataTable

`components/ui/data-table.tsx` already renders a table, but it is
**virtualized**: its `renderRow` hands back a `VirtualItem` and the
virtualizer, and rows are expected to attach `measureElement`. These
settings lists are short and their rows are wrapped in a
`ContextMenuTrigger asChild`, so adopting it would mean threading
measurement through the context menu to gain nothing. `SettingsTable` is
the plain version, and `accounts.tsx` / `automation-rules.tsx` (which
repeat the same markup) can move onto it next.

## Metrics

Cumulative with the other refactor PRs in flight; measured against
`main`:

refactor(landing): extract the scroll-progress hook every preview duplicated (#768)
## Why

`welcome.tsx` was the single biggest source of duplication in the repo:
**8 clone pairs, ~200 duplicated lines**, all of them the same thing
copied nine times.

Every scroll-animated preview on the landing page carried its own copy
of:

New `resources/js/hooks/use-scroll-progress.ts`:

- **`useScrollProgress()`** — returns `{ ref, progress }`, where
progress goes 0 → 1 as the element crosses the viewport. Nine call
sites.
- **`useScrollTranslate({ speed, padding })`** — the self-scrolling
lists (banks, transactions): adds the travel measurement and returns
`translateY` derived from progress instead of keeping it in a second
piece of state. Two call sites.

`welcome.tsx` goes from 2912 to 2647 lines. No visual or behavioural
change intended: same listeners, same passive flag, same clamping, same
values.

**Browser** — loaded the landing locally and scrolled every preview into
view, asserting each one's inline styles actually change between "just
entering" and "in view". All nine still animate: the eight that move
`transform` / `opacity` / `top`, plus the cashflow chart, which animates
bar `height`. No JS console errors (only external gravatar/placeholder
404s, pre-existing).

Upgrades Inertia.js from v2 to v3 on both sides — the major deliberately
left out of #764.

## Why axios becomes a direct dependency

The app imports `axios` in 18 runtime files, but it was never declared —
it arrived transitively through `@inertiajs/core` v2. v3 drops axios in
favour of its own XHR client, so without this the whole app would fail
to resolve the import.

Nothing relied on Inertia configuring axios: v2 never touched
`axios.defaults`, and there are no interceptors. `^1.19.0` also
satisfies core's optional peer range (`^1.15.2`).

## Breaking changes swept

Every v2→v3 breaking change from the [official upgrade
guide](https://inertiajs.com/upgrade-guide) was checked against the
codebase:

React 19.2.4, Laravel 13 and PHP 8.4 already satisfy v3's raised floors.

## DevTools kept opt-in

v3 adds a DevTools recorder that writes every request's page props to
`storage/inertia-devtools/` and **defaults to on in local**. On this app
that produced 38 dumps, the largest ~1 MB, holding whole transaction and
balance payloads — redaction only covers credential-shaped keys. It is
gitignored by the package, so it never reaches the repo, but for a
privacy-first product it shouldn't be the default. Gated behind
`INERTIA_DEVTOOLS_ENABLED` (set it to `true` in your own `.env` when you
need it).

## Deliberate behaviour change: `<Deferred>` on partial reloads

v3 no longer resets `<Deferred>` to its `fallback` during a partial
reload — existing content stays visible while fresh data loads. This
affects the dashboard (`onBalanceUpdated`) and account detail
(`handleTransactionCreated`).

**Kept as-is, on purpose.** Two reasons:

1. `dashboard.tsx:131-133` already carried a workaround for exactly this
v2 behaviour — it requests an unrelated cheap prop purely so the
deferred prop isn't refetched into a skeleton. The team already treated
the skeleton flash as a problem and v3 fixes it upstream, so restoring
it via the new `reloading` slot prop would undo an improvement. That
workaround is now redundant and can be simplified in a follow-up.
2. The "user can't tell it worked and re-submits" risk doesn't apply:
`edit-transaction-dialog.tsx:390` fires `toast.success('Transaction
created successfully')` *before* the reload, so the confirmation is
explicit and independent of the list.

## Verification

Full CI set, locally:

- `bun run build` — green
- `bun run test` — **353/353**
- `bun run types` — zero new errors (advisory step; pre-existing backlog
unchanged)
- `bun run format`, `bun run lint`, `bun run dry` — green
- `vendor/bin/pint --test`, `vendor/bin/phpstan analyse` — green
- `php artisan crap --base=origin/main` — 0 methods above complexity 10
- `pest --exclude-testsuite=Browser,Performance` — **2086/2088**
- `pest --testsuite=Browser` — **132/133**

Both test failures are pre-existing and reproduce identically on `main`
with Inertia v2 — I ran each one there to confirm:

- `DashboardTest::dashboard top categories roll child spending up into
the parent` — 409, the known local Inertia asset-version artifact
- `BudgetsFeatureNavigationTest::user cannot access another users
budget` — `Unknown column 'category_id'` on `budgets`, a factory/schema
mismatch

## Browser QA

Real browser sweep against the production build over dashboard,
transactions, accounts, budgets, settings and billing: **0 console
errors, 0 uncaught exceptions, 0 failed requests**. Page titles apply,
deferred props resolve, sidebar `<Link>` navigation stays client-side
with no document reloads, back/forward restores from Inertia history,
and a profile form submit persisted correctly.

## SSR: measured, left alone

v3 routes SSR through the Vite dev server (`/__inertia_ssr`) whenever
Vite is running hot, and we don't use the `@inertiajs/vite` plugin — so
in theory local dev makes a doomed POST per render. Measured it rather
than guessed: with `bun run dev` up, page loads are **16 ms** and the
failed attempt is a connection-refused costing ~0.6 ms, then it falls
back to client rendering. Dev mode renders correctly (React mounts, 0
console errors). Not worth a config knob.

Production is untouched — `Vite::isRunningHot()` is false there, so it
uses the real SSR server from `docker/supervisor/supervisord.conf`
exactly as on v2.

## Notes

- Wayfinder needed nothing: #764 already brought it to v0.1.21 (latest),
and `@laravel/vite-plugin-wayfinder` is on 0.1.7 (latest).
- Pre-existing bug both reviews surfaced, left for its own PR:
`auth/register.tsx:40` passes an `async` handler to `<Form onBefore>`,
which Inertia never awaits (same in v2 and v3), so
`transactionSyncService.clearAll()` is fire-and-forget on registration.
- `config/inertia.php` is hand-patched rather than republished. The v3
stub is ~190 lines; the unset keys resolve to package defaults via
`mergeConfigFrom`. Adopting the whole stub is a separate, reviewable
change.
- Remaining "Inertia v2" strings live inside Boost-generated blocks
(`CLAUDE.md`'s guidelines block and the vendored `SKILL.md` copies).
Hand-edits there get overwritten, so they should come from a Boost
regeneration. The three hand-written references are updated here.

fix(ui): show a recoverable screen instead of a blank page when render throws (#758)
Relates to
[PHP-LARAVEL-5A](https://whisper-money.sentry.io/issues/PHP-LARAVEL-5A).

## Why

The app has never had a React error boundary. Any throw during render or
in an effect unmounts the whole tree, so the user gets a blank white
page — no message, no way out, and nothing telling them to reload.

That is not hypothetical, it is how **every** frontend crash we have
fixed this year presented itself: #41 (`addEventListener` on old
Safari), #43 (missing `indexedDB`), #47 (recharts render loop), #57 /
#4Y (`localStorage` null in a restricted webview), #675
(`colorClasses.bg`). Each got a targeted fix, and the next unguarded
property access white-screened the app again. PHP-LARAVEL-5A is the
current one: `props.features` arrives undefined on `/dashboard` and
`props.features.cashflow` takes the page down.

**This does not fix 5A's root cause.** I could not confirm why
`props.features` goes missing — the server always shares it, and the
only mechanism I found is Inertia core's `mergeProps` bailing out when a
partial response's component differs from the current page, which I
could not reproduce. What this does is stop that class of bug from
costing the user their whole session.

## What it does

Wraps the tree in `@sentry/react`'s `ErrorBoundary` — already a
dependency, no new packages — with a fallback offering a reload and a
way to the dashboard.

Two things the boundary has to take over, because once React handles an
error it never reaches `window.onerror`:

- **Reporting.** `Sentry.ErrorBoundary` captures on its own via
`captureReactException`, and adds the React component stack. Note this
will fingerprint as a *new* issue rather than continuing 5A, since the
exception now carries a synthetic cause.
- **The stale-chunk reload.** `chunk-load-recovery`'s global listeners
only see what React did not catch, so `onError` re-runs
`reloadOnChunkLoadError`. Its actual reload-once behaviour stays covered
by `chunk-load-recovery.test.ts`.

## The two follow-up commits are the interesting ones

Both came out of review and both were real bugs in the first commit:

**`handled` was silently flipped.** The SDK derives `handled` from
whether a fallback was supplied (`errorboundary.js:51`), so simply
adding one would have reclassified every caught crash as handled — they
would stop counting against crash-free sessions and stop matching any
`error.handled:false` alert. Now passes `handled={false}` explicitly.

**Both escape hatches were dead ends.**
- "Back to home" pointed at `/`, which renders the marketing page — and
that page mounts `AuthenticatedRedirectDialog`, which `router.visit()`s
a signed-in user to the dashboard on a 3s timer. The escape hatch
trampolined the user straight back into whatever crashed. It now goes to
the dashboard directly, as a document load.
- The **back button** was worse. Inertia's popstate listener lives at
module scope and outlives React unmounting the page, so going back
changed the URL and painted nothing — the screen just looked frozen. The
fallback now reloads on `popstate`.

## Scope, honestly

- `initializeTheme()` and `initializeChartColorScheme()` run at module
scope, **before** the boundary mounts, so the boot-crash class (#57 /
#4Y) is still outside its reach. Those are already fixed by #743's
`safe-storage`; worth knowing the boundary is not a second net for them.
- One boundary at the root means a crash anywhere replaces the whole app
rather than just the page. Since React unmounts the entire tree on an
uncaught error anyway, the trade is white screen → error screen, not
working page → error screen. A second boundary around `<App>` only would
let the shell survive and make `resetError()` meaningful — worth doing
if this ever fires often enough to matter.
- `ssr.tsx` keeps its own unwrapped copy of the provider tree.
Pre-existing duplication, now one element wider; extracting a shared
`AppProviders` is the fix.
- No reload-loop guard. "Try again" is user-initiated, not automatic, so
a deterministic crash means the button does nothing rather than looping
— and the dashboard button is the real way out.

## Tests

`app-error-boundary.test.tsx`: children render normally; a throwing
child produces the recovery screen with both actions instead of nothing;
the error is handed to the chunk-load recovery; the popstate listener is
registered and cleaned up. 4/4 locally, plus
`chunk-load-recovery.test.ts` 5/5.

Copy uses existing `lang/es.json` keys except one new line, which is
added.

Canny's board root was the feedback list and `/feature-requests` the
submission board; UserJot inverts that. The root is the cross-board "All
Feedback" feed — it covers both the Features and Bugs boards and carries
the *Give Feedback* button, so it is a superset of the old
`/feature-requests` destination. `/roadmap` is a real dedicated page,
which Canny never had.

A repo-wide grep confirms no `canny` reference remains. Nothing else
linked it — not the README, the landing page, the privacy/terms pages,
or the drip emails.

The new vitest case pins both hrefs, so an accidental revert fails the
build.

## Testing

- `user-menu-content.test.tsx` — 3/3 green.
- Browser QA on the running app: logged in, opened the dropdown, clicked
**Feedback** and **Roadmap**, and confirmed each opens the right UserJot
page in a new tab (`rel="noopener noreferrer"` intact). Repeated at a
390×844 mobile viewport. See the demo below.

## Follow-ups (outside this repo)

- **The UserJot workspace still has demo seed posts.** "Shared access
for family accounts" (Emily Roberts) is the only card under **In
Progress**, so every user clicking Roadmap sees a fake item presented as
actively being built — and it duplicates the real imported post
"Multi-tenant support for families or companies". "Custom tags for
transactions" (Sam Wilson) is in the feed too. Worth deleting before
this ships.
- **Canny is still live** and still serves its 17 posts. It has no URL
redirect feature, so already-sent emails, Discord pins and search
results will keep landing there. Close or rename the boards with a
pointer to UserJot, and reconcile the import (Canny 17 vs UserJot
Planned 5 / In Progress 1 / Done 11) before decommissioning.
- **The Bugs board has no entry point.** The Support dialog still routes
bug reports to Discord/email, so `/board/bugs` sits empty. Either point
Support at it or drop the board.
- **No SSO.** UserJot supports JWT identification; without it users need
a second account to vote. Same as Canny, but the migration is the
natural moment to add it.

feat(transactions): allow manual transactions on bank-connected accounts (#747)
## Why

You could not add a transaction by hand to a bank-connected account.
There was no good reason for it: bank sync **only inserts** rows it has
not seen before (dedup runs on `dedup_fingerprint` /
`external_transaction_id`, both `null` on manual rows) and **never
deletes or updates**, so a hand-entered transaction survives every later
sync untouched.

The one thing that genuinely does not make sense is letting a user set a
**balance** on a connected account, because the next sync overwrites it.
That restriction stays.

## What was actually blocking it

Less than it looked. The HTTP endpoint already allowed it,
`ManualBalanceAdjuster` already skipped connected accounts, and the
transaction dialog already handled them (it forces `updateBalance:
false`). Only two surfaces blocked it:

- **MCP** — `WriteTool::writableAccount()` rejected every connected
account for *all* writes. Split into `accountInSpace()` (no connection
check — used by `create_transaction` / `update_transaction`) and
`balanceWritableAccount()` (still rejects connected — used by
`create_balance`).
- **The account detail page** — hid its "Add transaction" button for
connected accounts, even though the same dialog on the transactions page
already offered them in its account picker.

## Also in here

Two problems the change surfaced, both fixed:

- **`EnableBankingSyncer` linked-account watermark** took the newest
transaction of *any* source. With manual rows now able to land on a
connected account, one dated later than the bank's last posting would
shrink the fetch window and skip the bank history in between —
permanently, since the watermark only moves forward. On the QA data this
would have skipped **36 days**. Now restricted to bank-sourced rows.
- **`calculateHistoricalBalances`** derives history by walking back from
a bank-provided reference balance, summing transactions unfiltered.
Counting a hand-entered row subtracts money the bank never had. Now
walks bank-sourced rows only. (Safe before only because manual rows
could not reach a connected account.)

Plus the honesty/copy work:

- `ManualBalanceAdjuster` returns whether it shifted anything, so
`create` / `update` / `delete_transaction` all report `balance_updated`
instead of silently no-opping and letting the agent claim a balance
moved.
- The **OAuth consent screen** and the AI Connector settings page said
"bank-connected accounts stay read-only". That was a trust statement,
and it is no longer true — both now say bank-*synced transactions*
cannot be edited or deleted and connected balances stay untouched.
- `create_balance`'s description no longer contradicts the server
instructions shipped alongside it.
- The transaction dialog now *explains* why the "Update account balance"
checkbox is absent on a connected account instead of just hiding it (it
defaults to on and is localStorage-persisted, so it used to vanish
mid-form with no reason given).

## What stays blocked

- Balances on connected accounts — MCP `create_balance` rejects them,
the adjuster no-ops, the UI shows the explanation instead of the
checkbox.
- Editing or deleting bank/imported transactions — still gated on
`source === manually_created`, unchanged.

## Testing

- `create_transaction` on a connected account leaves its balances alone;
moving a transaction onto a connected account unwinds only the manual
side it came from.
- A manual row survives a sync and does not block the bank's own rows —
the invariant the whole change rests on, previously untested.
- A manual transaction does not move the linked-account sync window.
- The account page offers "Add transaction" on connected accounts, and
hides it on non-transactional ones.
- Full suite: 2047 passing, phpstan clean.

QA'd in the browser end to end (create from a connected account, edit it
afterwards, contrast with a manual account, switch accounts mid-form)
and over real MCP calls against the running server (`create_transaction`
returned `balance_updated: false` on connected / `true` on manual;
`create_balance` refused the connected account).

fix(open-banking): unblock account mapping when the bank reports accounts without a uid (#746)
## Problem

A paying user reported that "Save & Sync" on the account mapping screen
did nothing — no error, no navigation, nothing.

EnableBanking returned their Société Générale card (`CB Visa`) with
`uid: null`:

The page renders one mapping row per pending account, so the form posted
`bank_account_uid: null`. `MapAccountsRequest` requires it, the request
422'd, and since the page never rendered validation errors the button
looked dead. The user retried the connection six times.

A second problem kept them from doing what they actually wanted: both
accounts reported `currency: "XXX"` — ISO 4217 for "no currency".
`getCompatibleAccounts` filtered their existing EUR accounts against
`"XXX"`, matched nothing, and the "Link to existing account" option was
never rendered. The backend already knew `XXX` isn't a currency
(`AccountUserCurrencyService::resolveImportedCurrency`); the frontend
didn't.

## Fix

- Accounts without a uid are filtered out of the mapping screen. They
can never be synced anyway — every sync service early-returns on an
empty `external_account_id` — and `CreatesAccountsFromPending` already
skipped them during onboarding. That rule now lives in one place,
`BankingConnection::mappablePendingAccounts()`.
- The skipped accounts are named on the page, so users don't go hunting
for an account they can see in their bank app.
- A connection where *no* account has a uid is closed out instead of
parking on a mapping page that could only ever 422.
- Validation errors surface as a toast, with app-authored messages in
`MapAccountsRequest::messages()` instead of raw field paths.
- `XXX` (and a blank/lowercase variant) is treated as "unknown
currency": the code isn't displayed, and it no longer filters out every
linkable account.

## Scope

One user affected in production (the reporter). Their connection has one
valid account alongside the card, so this fix unblocks them on deploy —
no data change needed.

## Testing

- `tests/Feature/OpenBanking` — 315 passed, including two new cases:
uid-less accounts are hidden and named, and an all-uid-less connection
is closed rather than left awaiting mapping.
- Browser QA against a local reproduction of the exact production
payload: only `Compte Bancaire` is offered, `CB Visa` is named as
skipped, "Link to existing account" appears despite the `XXX` currency,
submitting without picking an account toasts the error, and picking
`Dany SG` links it (`external_account_id` set, connection `active`).

## Not in this PR

`AuthorizationController::refreshAccountIds()` consumes the raw pending
list on reconnect; its positional fallback can pair a legacy account
with a uid-less entry. Not reachable for any account in production
today, it belongs to a different flow, and it deserves its own test —
filed separately rather than smuggled in here.

fix(onboarding): don't trap users on the syncing step when a bank sync fails (#745)
Reported by a user who spent over an hour and a half on the onboarding
syncing step, on two devices, without ever getting into the app.

## What was happening

When Enable Banking rate limits a connection, `SyncBankingConnectionJob`
records the error and backs off, but leaves the connection **Active with
`last_synced_at` still NULL** — the exact shape `syncStatus` treated as
"still syncing". The step polled that endpoint forever, and there was no
deadline or escape on the client.

Confirmed in production for the reporter: a Trade Republic connection
returned `429` on every scheduled sync for two days straight. They
unblocked themselves by deleting the connection — `onboarded_at` was set
four seconds later. Three other users are in the same state right now,
one of them from today.

## What changed

- **`syncStatus` no longer waits on a connection that already failed**,
and reports it as `failed` separately from `pending`.
- **The step says so instead of pretending it worked.** Advancing
silently dropped the user on a "You are all set!" screen with an empty
dashboard and no way to find out why. Now they get a short explanation
and a Continue button.
- **Client deadline raised to 5 minutes** — the previous 2 was under the
worst case of a healthy first sync (3 attempts of a 120s job, 30s apart)
— and the status request now has a timeout, so a hanging poll can't
stall the step either. A failing status check keeps polling until the
deadline rather than skipping the user ahead.
- **`AccountMappingController` clears the stale error** when it
reactivates a connection, so a genuine sync in flight isn't reported as
failed.

## Testing

- Feature tests for the rate-limited case, for a healthy connection
syncing alongside a failed one, and for the failed flag; a
`rateLimited()` factory state replaces the hand-rolled attributes.
- Vitest coverage for the three client branches: failed, deadline
reached, and the normal advance.
- Browser QA against the real app, reproducing the production state: the
honest screen appears instead of the spinner, Continue moves on, the
user completes onboarding and reaches the app; and a genuinely pending
sync still spins and then advances by itself once the connection syncs.
No console errors.

`settings/connections.tsx` has the same `active && !last_synced_at` =
"syncing" heuristic, so a rate-limited connection shows a permanent
green "Syncing" badge there and its error is never rendered (the error
block is gated on `status === 'error'`). Same bug class, separate
surface — worth a follow-up.

fix(ui): stop unusable web storage from white-screening the app (#743)
## The bug

Two Sentry issues share one minified boot frame, `vq` →
`initializeTheme()`:

Chrome Mobile WebView 131 / Android 15: the host app disabled DOM
storage, so `window.localStorage` is `null`.

[PHP-LARAVEL-4Y](https://whisper-money.sentry.io/issues/PHP-LARAVEL-4Y)
— `SecurityError: The operation is insecure.`, 17 events. Blocking
cookies/site data makes the very first access throw.

`app.tsx` runs `initializeTheme()` and `initializeChartColorScheme()` at
module scope, before React mounts, so either one white-screens the app.
Same class as PHP-LARAVEL-41 (Safari <14 `addEventListener`), which is
why `lib/media-query.ts` exists — `lib/safe-storage.ts` is its sibling.

## What both reviews caught

My first pass only routed the two initializers, and **that would not
have closed either issue**. Both events carry url
`https://whisper.money/`, and the landing page reads `localStorage`
unguarded in a mount effect (`welcome.tsx:2105`) — those users would
have white-screened a few milliseconds later instead. There is also **no
error boundary anywhere in this app**, so any throw in render or an
effect unmounts the whole root; there is no "broken widget" failure
mode.

So the fix also covers:

- **`welcome.tsx`** — the landing page's locale effect, the url both
issues carry.
- **`chunk-load-recovery.ts:61,71`** — `window.sessionStorage` was
evaluated in an argument list, *outside* the try/catch that guards its
use. For the SecurityError cohort the global `error` listener itself
threw, and that throw was reported as another error event, re-entering
the same listener. It also meant chunk-load auto-recovery was dead
precisely on the browsers most likely to hold stale assets.
- **`edit-transaction-dialog.tsx:104`** — a read inside a lazy
`useState`, i.e. during render, on `/transactions` and account pages.
Its `typeof window !== 'undefined'` guard checks the wrong axis:
`window` exists, `window.localStorage` is null.

## Not just "doesn't crash" — the preference still works

Making the crash survivable exposed what happens next. The `appearance`
cookie is unencrypted, `HandleAppearance` renders the page from it, and
the blade applies it before any JS runs. Then `initializeTheme` read an
empty localStorage, fell back to `'system'`, and stripped the `dark`
class again — so a no-storage user who chose Dark got light on every
load. The mount effect was worse: it called `updateAppearance`, which
writes the cookie, so simply opening the app reset the one channel that
still persisted for these users.

Now the cookie is read as a fallback, the mount effect hydrates without
writing back, and `initializeChartColorScheme` only overrides the
blade-rendered `data-chart-color` when something is actually stored
(previously it reset everyone to `colorful`, leaving the CSS palette
fighting the colors the charts draw with).

For users whose storage works, behaviour is unchanged: `readStoredValue`
returns exactly what `getItem` returned, `null` included.

## Tests

7 vitest cases. The helper's four (working storage, null global,
throwing getter, throwing `setItem`) plus three that pin the invariant
that actually regressed — the boot initializers survive a null and a
throwing storage, and leave the server's theme alone when nothing is
stored. Verified they fail if `initializeTheme` goes back to a bare
`localStorage` call; the helper-only tests do not.

## Follow-ups (not here)

- **An error boundary in `app.tsx`** — both reviews called this the
highest-leverage item in the whole change. ~10 unguarded storage sites
remain, and without a boundary each is a fresh white screen rather than
a contained failure plus a Sentry report. It needs fallback UI and a
visual check, so it deserves its own PR.
- **The remaining unguarded sites**, in blast-radius order:
`lib/debug.ts:4` (called ~30× per rule evaluation from the rule engine,
so auto-categorization dies for these users),
`transaction-analysis-drawer.tsx` / `category-analysis-drawer.tsx`
(drawers fail to open), `lib/key-storage.ts` (on a 1s interval, but
gated behind the deprecated encryption setup — and note storage that
silently fails to persist is the *wrong* policy for a key),
`hooks/use-admin.tsx` (no call sites — delete it).
- Six call sites already hand-roll this exact try/catch idiom, which is
the argument for the helper existing; folding them in would also remove
three duplicated localStorage stubs from the test suite.

## What
Add the Thai Baht as a supported currency.

## Compatibility
Provider covers `thb` (standard ISO 4217). The conversion service
lowercases codes and fetches `thb.min.json` — same path RSD/NZD use.
`exchange_rates` stores rates as JSON, so any 3-letter code works.
Validation rules and Inertia currency props auto-derive from config.

## Changes
- `config/currencies.php` — THB entry (`allows_primary` +
`allows_account`)
- `lang/es.json` — Spanish translation
- `lang/fr.json` — French translation
- `resources/js/utils/currency.ts` — short symbol (฿) for THB

Follows the RSD addition (#567) exactly; no code changes needed.

feat(transactions): add a monthly trend view to the analysis drawer (#736)
## Why

The analysis drawer was built for **bounded** filters — a trip, a
project — where "total spent" and "avg / day" are the answer.

Filter by something open-ended instead, like a single category, and it
surfaces a year or two of expenses. There both numbers stop meaning
anything: the cumulative line only ever climbs, `€12.32 / day` is not a
figure anyone decides on, and the largest-expenses table fills with the
same monthly transfer repeated five times.

## What

A fourth analysis view that answers the open-ended question instead:
**the monthly rate, and where the recent months sit against it**.
Automatic picks it past a 120-day span; the existing per-filter override
now carries four options, each named after the number it produces.

Footer names the months covered rather than counting days. When income
is a meaningful share the cards report net figures and the chart adds
income bars.

### Only whole months count

Every monthly figure covers calendar months the series spans end to end.
Both edges would otherwise drag the average down, in the same direction:

- The **trailing** month is still in progress — on the 2nd it holds two
days of spending.
- The **leading** month is partial whenever the series does not start on
its 1st, whether a filter clipped it or the first transaction simply
landed on the 18th.

Skipping only the trailing one manufactured a rise: flat €300/month over
a 120-day span starting 18 March reported **+16%** in amber on spending
that never changed. Both are excluded now, which is what the one new
backend field (`summary.first_date`) is for. The part-month bars are
faded rather than dropped, so the solid bars are exactly the months
behind the average.

The average card states how many whole months it spans and the
percentage says it is against the average — two figures that otherwise
silently covered less than they appeared to.

### Edge cases

- Forcing the view onto a span with no whole month falls back to the
bounded shape, toggle label included, and the popover says why.
- The recent card is hidden when whole months do not outnumber its own
window, rather than repeating the overall average.
- A **day override** is the user stating the real duration, so it
decides the automatic view too: a trip whose transactions posted over
eight months stays bounded instead of jumping to trend and leaving that
override inert.

## Cost

**Backend: one enum case and one summary field.** No migration —
`analysis_mode` is already a nullable string behind `Rule::enum`. Every
other figure is derived in the browser from the `over_time` series the
endpoint already returned.

## Tests

`resolveAnalysisView`, `monthlyRates` and `isAdverseChange` are pure and
unit-tested directly — the part-month cutoff, the change against a
negative average, the zero-average guard, and the adverse-direction rule
that inverts for net. 32 component tests, plus feature coverage for the
new field and the persisted mode.

## QA

Browser QA against a year of grocery spending on the demo account (352
transactions, July 2025 – July 2026): the trend view resolves
automatically, all four options switch correctly, and a 30-day date
filter still lands on the bounded view. 22 assertions, no console
errors.

Sourced from a user email: she'd held off on finance apps over
data-privacy concerns, trusted Whisper Money enough to go premium, and
loves centralizing everything (investments included).

## Changes
- `resources/js/pages/welcome.tsx` — new testimonial entry (name +
Gravatar hash, no email stored in source)
- `lang/es.json` — Spanish translation for the new `__()` string

## Notes
Only the display name and the Gravatar MD5 hash are stored — no customer
email is exposed.

feat(budgets): add per-budget email notifications (#731)
## What

Adds opt-in **email notifications per budget** for three events, plus a
dedicated **Notifications** settings page.

Each budget can independently enable:
- **New transaction** — a transaction was assigned to the budget
- **Close to limit** — spending crossed 90% of the limit
- **Over limit** — spending reached/passed the limit

A **Default (new budgets)** row lets you set the toggles that newly
created budgets inherit.

The existing *bank-transactions-synced* email toggle was **moved** from
the account page into this new Notifications page, so all email
preferences live in one place.

## UI

`Settings → Notifications`: one "Email notifications" section containing
the bank-sync toggle and a "Budgets" table (rows = Default + each
budget, columns = the three events).

## How it works

- Notifications fire from the **live transaction-assignment path**
(`BudgetTransactionService::assignTransaction`, already a queued
listener), never from historical backfill when a budget is created.
- Only the budget's **current period** is considered (the emails
describe the live "available before the limit" state).
- **New transaction** fires for a genuinely newly-assigned transaction;
the email includes the transaction.
- **Close/over** use two atomic per-period flags
(`close_to_limit_notified` / `over_limit_notified`) flipped with a
compare-and-set `UPDATE`, so exactly one email is sent per crossing even
under concurrent queue workers. The flags reset once spending drops back
below the close threshold, so a later crossing can notify again.
- Budgets with no limit (`allocated_amount <= 0`) never send close/over
emails; the "new transaction" email for such a budget omits the
limit/available rows.
- Every email shows the budget's current status (period, spent, limit,
available or over-by). Subcopy links back to the Notifications page.
- New budgets inherit the user's default toggles at creation time.

## Data model

- `budgets`: `notify_on_new_transaction`, `notify_on_close_to_limit`,
`notify_on_over_limit` (default `false`)
- `user_settings`: `budget_notify_on_*` defaults for new budgets
(default `false`)
- `budget_periods`: `close_to_limit_notified`, `over_limit_notified`
(dedup flags)

## Deliberate decisions

- **Threshold is a fixed 90%** for "close to limit" (not configurable) —
kept simple; easy to make per-budget later if requested.
- **"New transaction" sends one email per assigned transaction.** It is
opt-in and defaults to off. A bank sync importing many matching
transactions into an opted-in budget will therefore send several emails;
if this proves noisy we can batch per sync run (mirroring the daily
bank-sync digest). Flagged here rather than pre-building batching.
- **Limit basis is `allocated_amount`** (matches the budget
cards/spending chart), carry-over excluded.

## Tests

- Preference endpoints: page renders budgets + defaults, per-budget
toggle update, cross-user update forbidden, user-settings defaults
update, new budget inherits defaults.
- Sending: new-transaction opt-in/out, over-limit send, close-limit at
90%, no-resend dedup, re-notify after dropping below and crossing again,
no-limit budget skips close/over, historical backfill sends nothing,
notify after enabling the preference while already over. Plus a render
test covering all three email variants.

## Notes

- CI-enforced `es.json` keys for the new page and emails are included.
- All new PHP follows existing mail/queue conventions (`ShouldQueue`
mailable, `emails` queue, `RateLimited` middleware).

feat(billing): explain what AI categorization does and the data it sends (#730)
## What

Makes the **AI Categorization** feature more transparent on the Manage
Plan screen:

- **Moves the AI Categorization section to the top** of the page — it's
an important, privacy-relevant choice and shouldn't be buried below the
plan details.
- **Spells out exactly what enabling it does**, as two ordered steps:
1. **Categorize new transactions** that don't match any of your
automation rules.
2. **Learn your automation rules** — suggest and create automation rules
for recurring transactions, based on the corrections you make.
- **States exactly what data leaves the app**: each transaction's
description, amount, and merchant/sender name, plus the names of your
categories so the model can pick one. It also makes clear we **never
send your full financial picture** and your **data is never used to
train AI models**.

The copy was verified against the actual payload sent to the provider
(`app/Services/Ai/CategorizeTransactions.php`), which sends
`description`, `amount`, `creditor_name`/`debtor_name`, and the user's
category list.

## Part of #725

This delivers the **transparency** half of #725 (a plain-language
explanation of what the AI does and what data it receives). Still open
from that issue:

- The dedicated **"AI" settings section visible regardless of
`SUBSCRIPTIONS_ENABLED`** — this copy currently lives on the
(subscription-gated) Manage Plan screen, not a standalone AI section.
- The **connection status / "Test connection" health check** for the
configured provider.

## Testing

- `bun run format`, `bun run lint` clean.
- New `__()` keys added to `lang/es.json` and `lang/fr.json`; retired
the now-unused consent string.
- QA'd in the browser (light + dark) on the demo Pro account.

fix(dashboard): render negative net worth as a downward bar (#722)
## Problem

On the dashboard **Net Worth Evolution** monthly bar chart, users with a
large negative net worth (lots of debt) saw an **empty chart** — only
the x-axis month labels rendered, no bars.

Root cause: the chart scales each asset segment so the stacked bar
height equals net worth. For negative net worth the scale factor was
clamped to zero:

A stack of positive asset segments simply can't represent a negative
total, so everything collapsed to zero height.

## Fix

- Extract the scaling into a tested pure helper
`computeNetWorthBarScaling`.
- When net worth is **negative**, hide the (meaningless) scaled asset
segments and draw the deficit as a **single downward bar** from a **zero
baseline** (dashed reference line).
- **Positive** periods still stack assets upward. Both directions round
only at their far end and meet the zero line flush, so upward and
downward bars look symmetric.
- Extend the same handling to the **daily area chart**, which shared the
bug through the same scaled dataset.
- Share a single `NetWorthMode` type across the bar/area charts and
tooltip (was duplicated in three places).
- Translate the tooltip **Net Worth / Total** labels (were hardcoded
English; added `Net Worth` to `lang/es.json`).
- Render the chart for **liability-only** users (a debtor with just a
loan) instead of the "No account data available" empty state.

## Tests

- Unit tests for `computeNetWorthBarScaling`: no-liabilities, positive,
negative-with-assets, liabilities-only, net-worth-exactly-zero, and
no-assets cases.
- `bun run test`, `prettier --check`, `eslint` all green on the touched
files.

## QA

Verified in the running app (Playwright) with two seeded users:

- **Heavily indebted** (net worth −56.250,00 €): the chart now renders
red downward bars instead of an empty area.
- **Net worth crossing zero**: negative months draw downward, positive
months stack upward, sharing the zero baseline; tooltip shows
per-account balances + the (now translated) "Patrimonio Neto" total.

feat(settings): make mobile settings nav read as a tappable menu (#721)
## Problem

On mobile, many users don't realize the dropdown at the top of Settings
is a navigation menu — they don't know they can tap it. The trigger was
a shadcn `Select` left with the default form-field look (transparent
background, faint chevron), so once you're on a page it reads as a
static label rather than a control.

## Change

Restyle the mobile settings-nav `SelectTrigger` (in
`resources/js/layouts/settings/layout.tsx`) so it reads as a tappable
menu button:

- `bg-muted` — filled background instead of a transparent input.
- `h-11` — 44px touch target (recommended mobile minimum, up from 36px).
- `font-medium` — the label reads as a control, not plain text.
- `[&>svg:last-child]:opacity-100` — the chevron goes from
barely-visible to a clear "this opens" affordance.

Scope is the mobile block only (`lg:hidden`); the desktop sidebar is
untouched. Uses theme tokens, so light and dark mode are both covered.

## Testing

Pure Tailwind class change with no behavior change (the `Select` →
`router.visit` navigation is unchanged), so no unit test is added — a
CSS-class assertion would be brittle. Verified live in the browser at
mobile width in both light and dark mode, closed and open.

refactor: remove HIDE_AUTH_BUTTONS launch gate and waitlist apparatus (#717)
## What & why

The `HIDE_AUTH_BUTTONS` flag and its signed-link auth-override existed
only to gate registration/login behind a waitlist during the launch
period. That period is long over, so this removes the flag and the whole
waitlist apparatus. Registration and login are now always open, still
governed by `REGISTRATION_ENABLED` (Fortify's registration feature),
which is untouched.

## Removed

- **`HIDE_AUTH_BUTTONS`** config/env and
**`LandingAuthOverrideService`** — the signed-link override, override
cookie, and `?force=` bypass — plus its
`GenerateLandingAuthLinkCommand`.
- **Waitlist lead-capture + invitation apparatus**: `UserLeadController`
+ `waitlist.*`/`user-leads.*` routes, `StoreUserLeadRequest`, the
landing `WaitlistForm`, `waitlist/*` pages, waitlist/invitation mails,
invitation & re-invitation commands, the lead verification notification,
`LeadCohort`/`LeadCohortResolver`/`LeadPromoCodeAllocator`, and the
lead→Resend segment sync (scheduled tasks removed too).
- Frontend `hideAuthButtons`/`forcedRegistration` threading and the
`?force=` query on auth links (header, welcome, register, login).
- All tests for the removed features; `landing.hide_auth_buttons` config
stubs stripped from surviving tests.

## Kept on purpose (data preservation)

The `user_leads` **table, its migrations, and a lean `UserLead` model
are retained** — no destructive migration. Pre-launch contacts are not
lost, and new signups whose email matches a preserved lead still receive
that lead's promo code at Stripe checkout
(`SubscriptionController::resolveLeadPromotionCodeId`, unchanged).

## Testing

- Full non-Browser Pest suite green locally (**1948 passed**), plus
Pint, Prettier, ESLint.
- Browser QA (Playwright) on the running app: landing no longer shows
the waitlist form and renders the register/login CTAs; `/register`
renders the form (previously returned null when hidden); `/login` shows
the "Sign up" link pointing to `/register` with no `?force`. 16/16
functional checks passed; only pre-existing external-resource 404s in
console (gravatar `d=404`, `via.placeholder.com` seed images).

feat(auth): add REGISTRATION_ENABLED env to disable public sign-ups (#713)
## Summary

Adds a dedicated `REGISTRATION_ENABLED` env var (default `true`) so
self-hosters on a publicly reachable instance can **close public
sign-ups while keeping login open** — the exact "sign-ups closed, login
open, permanently" case from #711 that `HIDE_AUTH_BUTTONS` can't cover.

Closes #711.

## What changed

- **`config/fortify.php`** — the Fortify `registration()` feature is now
conditional on `env('REGISTRATION_ENABLED', true)`. When disabled:
- Fortify **never registers the `/register` routes** (GET form + POST
submit → `404`), i.e. a real server-side block, not just a hidden
button.
- The existing `canRegister =
Features::enabled(Features::registration())` flag flips to `false`
automatically everywhere it's used (`routes/web.php`,
`FortifyServiceProvider`, login page).
- **`resources/js/pages/welcome.tsx`** — the hardcoded `/register` CTAs
(hero button, Free/paid pricing cards, final "Ready to take control"
CTA) now respect `canRegister`, falling back to a `Log in` → `/login`
button when sign-ups are closed. The header already gated its `Register`
button on `canRegister`.
- **`.env.example` / `README.md`** — document the new variable.

**Backward compatible / optional:** `env('REGISTRATION_ENABLED', true)`
defaults to `true`, so existing installs that upgrade without setting
the var keep public sign-ups exactly as today. It's shown as a
commented, optional example in `.env.example`.

`/login` and the "Iniciar sesión / Log in" button stay fully available
in all cases. `AuthEntryPointService::guestRedirectRoute()` already
redirects guests to `/login` when registration is disabled, so no dead
`route('register')` calls remain.

## Tests

New `tests/Feature/Auth/RegistrationDisabledTest.php`:

- registration feature present by default / removed when
`REGISTRATION_ENABLED=false` (config-level).
- landing page exposes `canRegister=true` by default and `false` when
the feature is disabled.
- login page hides its sign-up link when registration is disabled.
- **`/register` GET + POST return 404 and the named routes are gone**
when disabled (via `refreshApplication()` with the env set), while
`/login` still returns 200.

All new tests pass; the wider `tests/Feature/Auth` + landing-override
suites stay green (the one unrelated `Asia/Calcutta` legacy-timezone
failure is a pre-existing tzdata quirk of the CI-less local box, not
touched here). `pint`, `prettier --check`, and `eslint` are clean.

## Manual QA

Verified against a running instance (headless Chromium) in both states:

feat(mcp): recommend desktop for AI connector setup (#712)
## What

Adds a short note at the top of the "How to connect" card on the AI
Connector screen (`settings/mcp.tsx`):

> **Set this up on a computer.** Signing in and approving works fine in
a desktop browser, but usually breaks in a phone's in-app browser. Once
it's connected, you can chat with Whisper Money from Claude or ChatGPT
on your phone as usual.

## Why

The OAuth sign-in + consent step is unreliable inside a phone's in-app
browser (the installed PWA captures the authorize link on Android).
Rather than fight every mobile edge case, steer people to create the
connection on desktop, where it works cleanly — the connection then
carries over, so they can chat from the mobile apps normally.

Copy run through the humanizer (no em dashes, plain and direct). Spanish
translation added to `lang/es.json` (required by the i18n CI check).

fix(pwa): open OAuth links in the browser instead of the installed app (#707)
## Problem

Connecting the MCP connector from **ChatGPT on Android mobile** fails.
Claude works because it opens the OAuth flow in an in-app browser
(Custom Tab); ChatGPT's link gets routed into the installed Whisper
Money PWA, and once the flow is inside the standalone app the redirect
back to the OAuth client can't complete.

## Root cause (confirmed on an Android emulator)

The installed PWA is a Chrome **WebAPK** that auto-verifies as an
**Android App Link handler** for the whole origin (`scope: "/"`):

So Android routes `https://whisper.money/*` — including
`/oauth/authorize` — into the app instead of a browser. Narrowing
`scope` to exclude `/oauth` isn't viable: the app's routes are flat and
share no prefix.

## Fix

Set `"handle_links": "not-preferred"` in the web app manifest, which
tells the browser **not** to route in-scope links into the installed app
— they open in the browser, where the OAuth round-trip (authorize →
consent → redirect back to the client) completes. The app still launches
normally from its home-screen icon.

This **replaces** the `launch_handler` + `launchQueue` approach from
#701, which targeted the wrong stage (it kept the flow *inside* the
PWA). That change is reverted here.

## Verification / caveat

`handle_links` on Android WebAPKs has incomplete/uncertain support, and
it couldn't be validated in isolation on the emulator (a throwaway test
domain never minted its own WebAPK). It's a safe, additive, reversible
manifest field — worst case it's a no-op.

**Must be verified on a real device:** after deploy, reinstall the PWA
on the phone (forces the WebAPK to re-mint from the new manifest) and
retry the ChatGPT connect → the authorize page should open in the
browser, not the app.

If Android ignores `handle_links`, the guaranteed fallback is narrowing
the PWA `scope` so `/oauth` is out of it (at the cost of the browser
toolbar appearing on hard reloads of non-`/dashboard` pages).

fix(onboarding): stop the AI rule-suggestion step from hanging forever (#705)
## Problem

A user reported being stuck forever on the onboarding "Looking for
patterns" step (the "Polishing your suggestions…" spinner). Confirmed in
prod: their `suggestion_runs` row has been stuck in `processing` for a
week, and `failed_jobs` shows `TimeoutExceededException:
GenerateRuleSuggestionsJob has timed out`.

### Root cause

- The user has 4,163 transactions — the largest onboarding dataset (max
with a completed run was 3,481). The Gemini generation exceeded the
job's `$timeout = 120`.
- The worker timeout is raised **outside** the `try/catch` in
`GenerateRuleSuggestions::run()`, so the code that sets `status =
Failed` never ran.
- `GenerateRuleSuggestionsJob` had **no `failed()` handler** (5 other
jobs do), so nothing flipped the run to `Failed`. It stayed
`processing`, `show()` kept returning `processing`, and the client
polled every 3s forever.
- The timeout never reached Sentry, so it was invisible. Only 1 user
affected, but it's a latent bug that recurs on any large account.

## Fix

**Backend** — add `failed()` to `GenerateRuleSuggestionsJob`: mark the
run `Failed` (only if not already terminal) and `report()` the exception
so these surface in Sentry.

**Frontend** (`step-ai-suggestions.tsx`) — belt-and-suspenders so the
client never spins forever even if the worker dies before it can mark
the run:
- `poll()` now guards against transient errors (network blip / expired
session / 5xx) instead of silently dying.
- A client-side deadline (3 min, just beyond the "up to two minutes"
copy) surfaces the existing "couldn't generate" screen with **Try again
/ Skip**.

Not included: raising the timeout / capping the number of groups sent to
Gemini so large accounts *complete* instead of just being able to skip.
Follow-up if we want big accounts to get suggestions.

## Tests

- `tests/Feature/Ai/GenerateRuleSuggestionsJobTest.php` — `failed()`
marks the run `Failed` + reports; doesn't overwrite an already-terminal
run.
-
`resources/js/components/onboarding/step-ai-suggestions-timeout.test.tsx`
— after the deadline the spinner gives way to the failed screen.

Green locally: pint, prettier, eslint, backend + frontend tests.

feat(welcome): add Miguel Ángel SB testimonial to the landing page (#703)
## What

Adds a new user testimonial from **Miguel Ángel SB** to the landing page
testimonials marquee (`resources/js/pages/welcome.tsx`), plus its
Spanish translation in `lang/es.json`.

The quote is a distilled English version of the positive closing of a
feedback email he sent us. The Spanish translation stays faithful to his
original wording.

> I love the style, the intuitive interface, how easy it is to use. If
it keeps growing like this, Whisper Money will be my finance app of
choice. You can tell it is built with passion — and things made with
passion can only end up a success.

## Notes

- Inserted just before the `Víctor Falcón (co-owner)` entry, which stays
last.
- `gravatar` is the MD5 of his email; he has no Gravatar, so the card
falls back to the generated Facehash avatar (same `d=404` mechanism as
most other entries).
- The English `__()` key is mirrored in `lang/es.json`, so the
localization test passes and Spanish users see the translated copy.

## QA

-  English card renders with the quote and Facehash fallback avatar.
-  Spanish (`?lang=es`) renders the translated quote — no English
fallback.
-  Row-splitting balances correctly with the new count; co-owner entry
remains last.
-  No new console errors (the Gravatar 404s are the intended fallback
path, shared by existing entries).
-  `bun run format` and `bun run lint` clean.

fix(pwa): keep mobile OAuth consent from being swallowed by the installed app (#701)
## Problem

On mobile, starting an OAuth connection from ChatGPT (MCP connector)
opens the **installed Whisper Money PWA** and lands on the **dashboard**
instead of the OAuth consent screen — so the connection can never be
approved.

## Cause

The web app manifest declares `scope: "/"`, so the installed PWA claims
the entire origin, including `/oauth/authorize`. On Android the OAuth
link gets captured into the app, and the default launch behavior just
**focuses the already-open window (the dashboard) and drops the incoming
URL** — the consent page never loads.

Narrowing `scope` to exclude `/oauth` isn't viable: the app's routes are
flat (`/dashboard`, `/transactions`, `/accounts`, …) and share no
prefix, so a narrower scope would push half the app out to the browser.

## Fix

- `site.webmanifest`: add `launch_handler.client_mode: "focus-existing"`
so the launcher hands the app the captured target URL via the launch
queue.
- `app.tsx`: a `launchQueue` consumer that navigates to the target URL
when it's an `/oauth/` path. Every other launch is a no-op (keeps its
place).

Low blast radius — additive manifest field + a guard scoped to `/oauth/`
paths; existing (desktop) OAuth is unaffected.

## Verification

Cannot be tested off-device. After deploy, on the phone:
1. **Reinstall the PWA** (remove from home screen, re-add) so Android
re-fetches the manifest.
2. Retry the ChatGPT OAuth connect → should land on the "Connect ChatGPT
to Whisper Money" consent screen.

Depends on `launch_handler`/`launchQueue` (Chrome/Edge 102+, covers
nearly all Android).

feat(import): persist per-account import configuration on the backend (#698)
## What & why

Import configuration (the CSV/Excel column mapping and date format a
user
sets up per account) was stored in the browser's `localStorage`, so it
never
followed the user to another device. Importing the same account's
statement on
mobile — or on a new machine — meant reconfiguring the mapping from
scratch.

This moves that configuration to the backend, keyed per account and per
import
type, so it's preconfigured and loaded automatically wherever the user
imports.

## Demo

Cross-device QA: import transactions on "device 1" with a custom column
mapping, then clear **all** cookies + local/session storage (simulating
a
fresh device), log back in, and start a new import — the mapping
(Description → *Movement*, Amount → *How Much*, date format
*DD-MM-YYYY*)
is auto-loaded from the backend with no manual setup.

## How

- New `account_import_configs` table: one row per `(account_id, type)`
where
`type` is `transaction` or `balance`. The mapping + date format are
stored as
  an opaque `config` JSON blob (exactly what the client sends).
- `GET/PUT /api/accounts/{account}/import-config`
(`AccountImportConfigController`),
authorized via the existing `AccountPolicy` (`view`/`update`) — mirrors
  `AccountBalanceController`. `PUT` upserts on `(account_id, type)`.
- Frontend: the two import-config storage helpers now read/write the
endpoint
via `axios` instead of `localStorage` (merged into a single module — the
  transaction and balance variants shared the same logic).
- The saved config is fetched **off the file-parse critical path**: the
parsed
file shows immediately with auto-detected columns, and the saved mapping
is
applied when it arrives (guarded so a slow load can't clobber a file
picked
afterwards). A slow or hanging request never blocks the preview or Next
  button. When no config exists or the request fails, it falls back to
  auto-detection exactly as before.

## Notes / decisions

- **No localStorage migration.** Existing per-device configs aren't
migrated;
on the next import the mapping is auto-detected and re-saved to the
backend,
so it self-heals after one import. The old `import_config_account_*`
keys are
  simply no longer read.
- The mapping-validity check against the actual file headers stays
client-side
  (it depends on the just-parsed file).

## Testing

- `tests/Feature/AccountImportConfigTest.php` (9 tests): auth required,
  cross-user 403 on read and write, save→persist→load round-trip, upsert
  de-duplication, transaction/balance independence, and validation
  (unknown type, missing column mapping).
- Sibling suites green (`AccountBalanceControllerTest`,
`SavedFilterTest`) —
no regression from the new `Account::importConfigs()` relation or
routes.

feat: reuse the upgrade modal at more upsell points and attribute revenue (#699)
> **Stacked on #696.** That PR introduced the AI-categorization upgrade
dialog this one generalizes. It targets `main` so CI runs, so until #696
merges this PR's diff also contains #696's commit — review/merge #696
first, then this diff resolves to just its own three commits.

## What & why

The contextual "this is a paid feature → pick a plan → checkout" modal
built for AI categorization is now a **shared component** reused at two
more Pro-feature entry points, and every checkout it starts is
**attributed to the upsell point** so we can measure revenue per point.

### 1. Reusable upgrade modal

Extracted `AiUpgradeDialog` (+ `PlanCard`) out of `settings/billing.tsx`
into a shared `UpgradeDialog`
(`resources/js/components/subscription/upgrade-dialog.tsx`). It reads
`pricing`/`locale` from `usePage`, takes `title` / `description` /
`source`, renders the plan picker, and links to Stripe checkout. Used
at:

Both new points already gated on `isFreePlan`, so the modal only shows
to free users. The old plain `UpgradeConnectionDialog` (which just
routed to billing) is deleted.

### 2. Revenue attribution

The upsell `source` is captured two ways:

- **Intent** — a PostHog `upgrade_checkout_started` event (`{ source,
plan }`) fires on click, matching the repo's existing `{ source }` event
convention.
- **Revenue** — `source` rides the checkout URL (`?plan=&source=`), and
`SubscriptionController::checkout` validates it against the new
`App\Enums\UpsellSource` enum and attaches it as Stripe **subscription
metadata** (`withMetadata`). When the subscription webhook lands,
`PersistUpsellSourceFromStripe` (on Cashier's `WebhookHandled`, so the
row already exists) copies it onto a new `subscriptions.upsell_source`
column — **write-once** (`whereNull`), so a later `subscription.updated`
never overwrites the original attribution.

Measuring revenue per point is then a group-by on
`subscriptions.upsell_source` joined to invoices, using existing local
tooling.

### Scoping notes (from review)
- **Paywall & the billing on-page upgrade button are intentionally left
untagged** (`upsell_source = NULL`). "Upsell source" means a
*feature-gate nudge*; the paywall/billing pages are the baseline upgrade
surface, not a nudge — so they form the null/baseline bucket rather than
getting their own enum value.
- The listener is **synchronous** (not `ShouldQueue` like the sibling
Discord listener) on purpose: a single indexed, idempotent `UPDATE`
doesn't warrant a queue-worker dependency for attribution.
- The PostHog event fires just before a full-page navigation; posthog-js
flushes via beacon but the event (analytics only, not the revenue source
of truth) could occasionally be lost. Cheap to harden later if the
funnel proves lossy.

## Tests
- `upgrade-dialog.test.tsx` — renders per-feature copy, checkout link
carries `plan` + `source`, click fires the PostHog event.
- `SubscriptionTest` — checkout tags valid sources as Stripe metadata
and ignores unknown ones.
- `PersistUpsellSourceFromStripeTest` — persists from webhook metadata,
doesn't overwrite an existing attribution, ignores unknown/absent
sources.

feat: prompt free users to subscribe when enabling AI categorization (#696)
## Problem

On **Settings › Manage Plan**, a free (non-subscribed) user who ticked
**"Allow AI categorization"** silently recorded AI consent (`POST
/ai/consent`). That flipped `hasActiveAiConsent()` to `true`, which
caused two things on the **next navigation / refresh**:

1. `EnsureUserIsSubscribed` hard-redirected them to `/subscribe`, on
every gated page.
2. The paywall's `canUseFreePlan` (`!hasBankConnections &&
!hasActiveAiConsent`) became `false`, so the **"Continue for free"**
escape hatch disappeared.

Net effect: enabling AI locked a free user out of the app behind the
paywall, with no explanation and no way back.

## Fix

For a **free user**, ticking the box no longer records consent. Instead
it opens a contextual dialog that explains AI is a paid feature and
offers **Monthly / Annual** plans that start Stripe checkout. Because no
consent is recorded:

- Nothing locks them out — dismissing the dialog ("Maybe later") leaves
the app fully usable.
- **Pro users** keep the existing direct-consent behavior.
- A free user who somehow already has consent can still **untick to
revoke** and escape the lock.

The now-inaccurate "you can give consent now…" note was removed (a free
user can no longer give consent from here).

## Tests

- New `resources/js/pages/settings/billing.test.tsx` covers three paths:
free user → modal opens & **no consent POSTed**; pro user → consent
recorded directly; free user with existing consent → untick **revokes**.

feat(transactions): add delete button to the transaction edit modal (#697)
## Why

Until now the only way to delete a transaction was the row's three-dots
menu in the list. Many users click a transaction to open the edit modal
and look for a delete option there — but there wasn't one. This adds a
**Delete** button inside the edit modal, with the same confirmation
step.

## What

- Adds a destructive **Delete** button to the transaction edit modal
footer (`edit-transaction-dialog.tsx`), shown only in **edit** mode.
- Clicking it closes the modal and opens the **existing**
delete-confirmation dialog — the same `AlertDialog` (and manual-account
"update balance" checkbox) already used by the three-dots menu. No new
delete logic, confirmation UI, or copy was introduced.
- Wired via a new optional `onDelete` prop, passed as
`setDeleteTransaction` from the two parents that render the edit modal
(`transaction-list.tsx`, `pages/transactions/index.tsx`). Because
`transaction-list` also backs the Accounts and Budgets pages, the button
appears consistently everywhere the edit modal opens.

## Reviews applied

Ran technical + product reviews on the diff. Applied: added
`dark:hover:bg-destructive/20` to match the sibling delete button's
dark-mode hover. Dropped (with reason): premature shared-component
extraction, pre-existing cross-file duplication, and pre-existing "no
toast on delete failure" — all out of scope for this change.

## QA

Real browser QA (Playwright) against the running app on real data:

- Delete button appears in the edit modal (verified on an imported
transaction).
- Delete → confirmation dialog opens and the edit modal closes.
- **Cancel** returns to the list; page stays fully interactive (`body`
pointer-events `auto` — no stuck Radix scroll-lock).
- **Confirm** removes the row from the list and soft-deletes it in the
DB (verified `deleted_at` was set). Restored afterward.
- Page remains interactive after the stacked-dialog flow (reopened
another transaction cleanly).

Unit tests added in `edit-transaction-dialog.test.tsx` cover: click
delegates to `onDelete` + closes the modal; button hidden without a
handler; button hidden in create mode.

feat(mcp): lead with Claude Desktop/ChatGPT connect steps, collapse tokens (#695)
## What & why

The **AI Connector** settings page was built token-first, but tokens are
only needed for **Claude Code**. Most people connect via **Claude
Desktop** or **ChatGPT**, which sign in with OAuth (no token). This
reorders the page around that reality.

## Changes

- **Lead with the connection instructions.** A **Claude Desktop /
ChatGPT** tab selector (`ToggleGroup`) is now the first card. Each tab
renders the exact ordered steps for that app, with the copyable
connector URL inline.
- **ChatGPT developer mode.** The ChatGPT tab's first step tells the
user to turn on developer mode, which is currently required to add a
custom connector.
- **Collapse the token stuff.** Token management (Create a token, Your
tokens, rotate/revoke) and the Claude Code CLI command moved into a
**"Connect with Claude Code"** section that is **collapsed by default**.
It auto-opens right after a token is minted so the one-time secret and
the list stay visible.
- **Copy tweaks.** The one-time-secret alert stays pinned at the top;
the non-Pro alert copy no longer references "create a token" as the
primary action.

## Review notes (findings applied)

- **Bug fix:** rotate/revoke used `router` visits without
`preserveState`, which remounted the page and snapped the collapsed
section shut (and reset the selected tab). Both now pass `preserveState:
true`.
- Trigger markup made valid (no block elements inside `<button>`),
consistency nits (`cursor-pointer`, chevron animation), and orphaned
`es.json` keys removed.

## Trade-off to confirm

Per the request, rotate/revoke now live inside the collapsed "Connect
with Claude Code" section. Revocation is therefore one expand away
rather than always visible. Flagging in case we want to surface revoke
outside the collapsible later.

feat: streamline the subscription paywall and add a support escape hatch (#694)
## What

Several related tweaks to the subscription paywall shown before a user
subscribes:

1. **Remove the Balance stat** from the top stat card.
2. **Mobile dismiss (X)** replacing the bottom "Continue for free"
button on small screens (when the free plan is available).
3. **Support button** when the paywall *can't* be skipped.
4. **Copy updates** to the social-proof slider.

## 1. Remove the Balance stat

The Balance column showed summed account balances per currency (e.g.
`58.031 MXN 65 US$`). As a variable-length, multi-currency string it
overflowed the stat card on mobile and broke the four-column layout. The
remaining stats (Accounts, Transactions, Categories) are short integer
counts, so it now reads as a clean three-column row.

- `SubscriptionController@getUserStats`: also drops the
`balancesByCurrency` computation — which ran an **N+1 query** (one
`AccountBalance` lookup per account) — and the never-rendered
`automationRulesCount`.

## 2. Mobile dismiss (X)

The "Continue for free" escape (shown only when `canUseFreePlan`) now
renders on **mobile** as a dismiss **X** fixed to the top-right corner
instead of a full-width bottom button, matching the common
mobile-paywall pattern. Same 5s delayed fade-in, same action (continue
on the free plan). On **desktop (md+)** the bottom button is unchanged.
Reuses the app's `MobileBackButton` treatment (44px target, rounded
pill, border/shadow/backdrop-blur) for legibility.

## 3. Support escape hatch (`!canUseFreePlan`)

When the user has **no** free-plan escape, the paywall previously
offered no way out. It now shows a subtle **help/support** affordance in
the same slots the free-plan escape uses — bottom button on desktop,
top-right corner on mobile. It fades in slightly later than the
free-plan escape (**7s vs 5s**) and is deliberately low-key (muted
ghost, no pill) so it doesn't compete with the subscribe CTA. It opens
the existing `SupportDialog` (join the community / email support) — the
same one behind the user-menu "Support" entry.

The two escapes are mutually exclusive per page load, so the free-button
timer collapses into one `escapeVisible` timer whose delay depends on
`canUseFreePlan`.

## 4. Copy updates

Shortened the social-proof lines (`taking control of their finances` →
`trusting us`, etc.), bumped the user count to `2,500+ users`, slightly
reduced the proof icon. `lang/es.json` updated to match.

## QA

Real browser QA across all four states (see Demo), each ending by
exercising the actual action:
- **With free plan** → the X (mobile) / "Continue for free" (desktop)
navigates to `/dashboard`.
- **Without free plan** → the "Need help?" button opens the support
modal (Join the community / Email support).

No console errors from the paywall.

feat(mcp): add OAuth 2.1 for Claude Desktop & ChatGPT connectors (Phase 3) (#691)
## MCP Phase 3 — OAuth 2.1 for Claude Desktop/web & ChatGPT connectors

Phase 1 shipped a read-only MCP server (#689); Phase 2 added write tools
+ the read/read_write token scope (#690). This phase adds **OAuth 2.1
(Authorization Code + PKCE)** so Anthropic's Claude Desktop/web custom
connectors and OpenAI's ChatGPT connectors can authenticate — those
clients sign in with OAuth rather than pasting a static bearer token, so
until now they only saw a "coming soon" note.

It reuses `laravel/mcp`'s built-in OAuth support (inert until Passport
is installed) wired to `laravel/passport ^13`. We do not hand-write the
authorization server, discovery endpoints, DCR endpoint, or the
`WWW-Authenticate` challenge — the package provides all of it.

### What's in it
- **`laravel/passport ^13`** + an `api` (passport) guard alongside the
existing session `web` guard; Passport migrations (UUID user columns),
config, and signing keys.
- **`Mcp::oauthRoutes()`** — RFC 8414/9728 discovery, RFC 7591 DCR
(`oauth/register`), and the `mcp:use` scope.
- **A second MCP endpoint `POST /mcp/oauth`** guarded by `auth:api`. The
existing Sanctum `/mcp` endpoint (Claude Code static PAT) is left 100%
unchanged.
- **On-brand OAuth consent screen** (Blade, light + dark, localized)
naming the connecting client and its redirect host, and stating plainly
what the connection can do (read/analyse + make changes, bank-connected
data excepted).
- **Settings UI**: the "Claude Desktop & ChatGPT" block now shows real
connect instructions (the `/mcp/oauth` URL to add as a custom connector,
no token needed) instead of "coming soon".

## Decision #1 — OAuth connections have read + write access

`laravel/mcp` advertises and uses a single `mcp:use` scope; it has no
read/write granularity, so there is no per-connection scope choice over
OAuth. **OAuth connections get full read + write access**, gated by the
user explicitly approving the connection on the Whisper Money consent
screen. (An earlier revision made them read-only; that restriction has
been lifted per request.)

`WriteTool` (`app/Mcp/Tools/WriteTool.php`) grants writes when the
request resolves through the `api` (Passport) guard **or** carries a
Sanctum `mcp:write` ability; a read-only Sanctum PAT is still rejected.
Bank-connected accounts and their transactions remain read-only for
every caller (only manual data can be created/edited/deleted; any
transaction can still be categorised/labelled). The consent screen and
settings copy state the read + write capability and the bank-connected
exception.

Possible follow-up: a consent-time read-only/read-write toggle, if
per-connection granularity is wanted (not offered by the standard MCP
OAuth flow's single scope).

## Other locked decisions
- **Route topology**: a separate `/mcp/oauth` endpoint rather than
multi-guarding `/mcp`. Keeps the Claude Code path unchanged (its
`abilities:mcp:read` gate would 403 an OAuth `mcp:use` token) and gives
each client type a clean documented URL. The package's nested discovery
`/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp/oauth` returns `resource =
url('/mcp/oauth')`.
- **Registration**: ship DCR (`oauth/register`). Redirect allowlist
tightened to `https://claude.ai` and `https://chatgpt.com` only — no
wildcard. CIMD is a possible later enhancement; both clients accept DCR.

## Deviation from the original plan — the User model is untouched
The plan proposed aliasing Passport's `HasApiTokens` trait alongside
Sanctum's (with `insteadof`/`as`) and implementing `OAuthenticatable`.
**Both are impossible here and, it turns out, unnecessary:**
- The two `HasApiTokens` traits declare an **incompatible `$accessToken`
property** (Sanctum untyped vs Passport `?ScopeAuthorizable`), which is
a hard PHP fatal that `insteadof` cannot resolve (it only resolves
methods).
- `OAuthenticatable::tokens(): HasMany` is incompatible with Sanctum's
canonical `tokens(): MorphMany`, and the Claude Code PAT suite depends
on Sanctum's `tokens()`. The interface is never enforced at runtime by
Passport (docblock-only).
- Passport's resource guard only calls `$user->withAccessToken()`, which
Sanctum already provides (untyped, so it accepts the Passport
`AccessToken`); and Passport's `AccessToken::can()` makes
`tokenCan('mcp:write')` behave correctly for OAuth tokens. So Sanctum
stays canonical and the Claude Code PAT path is genuinely unchanged.

## Signing keys (deploy note)
Passport signs OAuth tokens with a key pair. This PR provisions it
everywhere it's needed: CI (`passport:keys` before tests), the
production Docker entrypoint (generates into the persisted `storage/`
volume unless provided via `PASSPORT_PRIVATE_KEY`/`PASSPORT_PUBLIC_KEY`
env), `worktree.sh`, and a documented `.env.example` entry. **For a
multi-instance deployment, set `PASSPORT_*` env** so every instance
validates tokens with the same key.

## Tests (`tests/Feature/Mcp/McpOAuthTest.php`)
Discovery metadata (RFC 9728/8414), the mandatory **401 bootstrap**
challenge + `WWW-Authenticate` header, DCR (allowed + rejected redirect
URIs), the full **Authorization Code + PKCE** flow reaching a read tool,
and **write access over OAuth** (an OAuth connection calling
`create_label` succeeds and the row is created). The existing
`McpTokenTest` / `Mcp/*` suites (incl. the read-only Sanctum PAT
guardrail) and `LocalizationTest` still pass unchanged.

## QA
- **Protocol** (curl, over HTTPS): both discovery endpoints return the
exact required JSON; unauthenticated `POST /mcp/oauth` returns `401` +
`WWW-Authenticate: Bearer …
resource_metadata="…/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp/oauth"`;
DCR accepts `claude.ai`/`chatgpt.com` callbacks and rejects others with
`400 invalid_redirect_uri`.
- **Browser**: consent screen verified in light and dark mode (client
name, signed-in email, redirect host, read + write capability +
bank-connected read-only note, Cancel/Connect); updated settings page
verified. No JS errors.
- Full PKCE token exchange + a write tool call is covered by the green
Pest e2e test.

## Fast-follows (not in this PR)
- **"Connected apps" revoke UI** — `McpTokenController` manages only
Sanctum PATs today, so there's no in-app revoke for OAuth grants yet.
The consent copy says "disconnect from the connected app" for now; a
Passport-grant list + revoke is the top follow-up (more important now
that OAuth grants can write).
- CIMD registration; optional consent-time read-only/read-write toggle.

## Stacking
Was developed stacked on `mcp-write-tools` (#690), itself on #689.
**Both have since merged to `main`**, so this branch was rebased onto
`main` (`git rebase --onto origin/main mcp-write-tools`) and targets
`main` directly.

## MCP Phase 2 — write tools

> **Stacked on #689** (`mcp-functionality`). Base this PR on
`mcp-functionality`, not `main`, and merge it **after** #689.

Phase 1 shipped a read-only MCP server for Pro accounts. This adds the
**write** surface and re-enables the read/read-write token scope the UI
dropped in PR1.

### Write tools
A new `WriteTool` base extends `McpTool`: on top of the Pro-plan gate it
requires the calling token to carry `mcp:write`, returning a clear error
for read-only tokens. Each concrete tool is annotated `#[IsDestructive]`
(PHP attributes aren't inherited, so the annotation lives on each tool,
not the base — a docblock on `WriteTool` notes this).

- `create_transaction` — manual (non-connected) accounts only; forces
`source = manually_created`.
- `update_transaction` / `delete_transaction` — manually-created
transactions only; bank/imported ones stay locked.
- `categorize_transaction` — sets/clears the category on **any**
transaction (imported included), marking it `category_source = manual`.
- `label_transaction` — add/remove labels on **any** transaction.
- `create_balance` — balance snapshot on manual accounts only.
- `create_category` / `update_category` / `delete_category` — mirrors
the settings controller (parent/depth/cycle rules, cashflow derivation,
child strategies).
- `create_label` / `update_label` / `delete_label`.
- `create_automation_rule` / `update_automation_rule` /
`delete_automation_rule` — JsonLogic conditions + category/label
actions, at least one action required.
- `list_labels` — a small **read** tool added so label ids are
discoverable (label/automation tools are unusable without it).

### Guardrails
Write tools never touch bank-sourced data: the existing
`TransactionSource` enum and `Account::isConnected()` are the barriers,
reused not reinvented. There is no server-side write confirmation
(client-controlled, accepted decision) — hence `#[IsDestructive]`.

### Token scope
`StoreMcpTokenRequest` re-adds `scope` (`read` | `read_write`); the
controller grants `['mcp:read']` or `['mcp:read', 'mcp:write']`. The
settings page gets its scope selector back with honest copy (new strings
added to `lang/es.json`). The `/mcp` route stays gated on
`abilities:mcp:read` — any MCP token can connect and read; the per-tool
`mcp:write` check is what blocks writes.

### Tests
Happy path + guardrail failures for every write tool, the
read-only-token rejection (via a real read-only PAT so the `tokenCan`
gate runs exactly as over HTTP), cross-user isolation, the inherited Pro
gate, and read/read_write scope validation.

### Notes
- `AutomationRule::labels()` gained a generic return annotation (needed
for larastan level 5 on the new label mapping).

feat(mcp): read-only MCP server for Pro accounts (#689)
## What & why

Adds a **read-only MCP server** so a paid ("Pro") user can connect
Whisper Money to their own AI assistant (Claude web/desktop, Claude
Code, ChatGPT) and analyse their own finances — spending, cashflow, net
worth, transactions.

This is **Phase 1 (PR1): read-only**. Write tools (create/edit/delete
transactions, categories, labels, rules, balances) are a deliberate
follow-up (PR2); the token plumbing already reserves an `mcp:write`
ability for them.

## How it works

- **Transport:** remote streamable HTTP server via `laravel/mcp`,
mounted at `/mcp` (`routes/ai.php`).
- **Auth:** Sanctum personal access tokens with **MCP-only abilities**
(`mcp:read`). The route is gated by `auth:sanctum` +
`abilities:mcp:read` + `throttle:60,1`, so a future public-API token
(different ability) can't reach it and vice versa.
- **Pro gating** is enforced **per request inside the tools**
(`User::canUseFeature(PlanFeature::McpAccess)`), so a lapsed
subscription stops working on its own without the user revoking the
token. Free users can still create tokens (marked **PRO** in the UI) but
every call returns a "paid plan required" error with an upgrade URL.
- **Consent:** connecting is the consent — a clearly-weighted
data-egress disclaimer + per-client connection instructions on the
settings page. No separate checkbox (by design).

## Tools (all read-only)

and ChatGPT.

## Tests

- Tool behaviour + Pro gating + **cross-user / cross-space isolation**
(`tests/Feature/Mcp/McpToolsTest.php`).
- HTTP auth boundary: 401 without a token, 403 without `mcp:read`, 200
with it (`tests/Feature/Mcp/McpEndpointAuthTest.php`).
- Token CRUD + ownership + free-tier creation
(`tests/Feature/Settings/McpTokenTest.php`).

## Reviewed & adjusted

Ran technical + product reviews and applied the fixes: kept PR1 strictly
read-only (dropped a UI scope selector that promised non-existent
write), routed gating through the `PlanFeature` convention, put token
rotation behind a confirmation, removed a silent on-load clipboard copy,
weighted the egress disclaimer, and fixed a `list_spaces` N+1.

- `get_cashflow` / `get_net_worth` / `spending_by_category` reuse the
existing **user-scoped** analytics controllers/services, so they cover
the whole account rather than a single space (documented in the server
instructions). Per-space analytics is a follow-up.
- Space tools scope by `space_id` gated by membership
(`accessibleSpaces`) — the intended shared-tenant model — rather than a
per-row `user_id` filter.

## Not runnable in this environment
Browser QA of the settings page wasn't run here (no local
`node_modules`); that surface relies on CI build/typecheck/lint and
follows existing settings-page conventions.

## Updates since opening

- **Behind a feature flag.** New `App\Features\Mcp` (default off) hides
the whole settings screen — the nav item and every `settings/mcp*` route
(404 when off). Pro-plan gating still happens per request. Enable it
with `php artisan feature:enable "App\Features\Mcp" <email|all|25%>`.
- **Renamed** the user-facing page from "MCP access" to **"AI
Connector"** (nav, title, breadcrumb) so non-technical users understand
it. Route names, files and the feature stay internal.
- **Shared `ProBadge`** component (amber), now used on both the AI
Connector and billing pages instead of an inline badge.
- **Softer data-egress notice** (amber shield icon instead of a red
alert) and plainer copy throughout.
- **Accurate connection instructions (important).** Verified against the
official docs: a personal access token works with **Claude Code** today.
**Claude Desktop** and **ChatGPT** custom connectors authenticate over
**OAuth** and do not accept a static token, so they're now marked
**"coming soon"**. OAuth is the real unlock for those clients and is the
recommended follow-up (it also maps to the deferred write-tools work).

feat(currencies): add Swedish Krona (SEK) (#684)
## What

Adds **Swedish Krona (SEK)** as a currency available for both user
primary/display currencies and individual account currencies (including
bank accounts).

## Why

Config-driven per `docs/adding-a-currency.md`.
`App\Services\CurrencyOptions` reads `config/currencies.php` and feeds
validation (`in:` rules), the Inertia dropdown props, and conversion —
so a single config entry wires the whole feature.

## Changes

- `config/currencies.php` — SEK entry (`allows_primary: true`,
`allows_account: true`)
- `lang/es.json` — `"Swedish Krona": "Corona sueca"` (enforced locale)
- `lang/fr.json` — `"Swedish Krona": "Couronne suédoise"` (optional)
- `resources/js/utils/currency.ts` — `SEK: 'kr'` short symbol

## Verification

Confirmed the `@fawazahmed0/currency-api` provider covers `sek` at a
sane rate (SEK→EUR ≈ 0.091 → EUR→SEK ≈ 11).

feat(transactions): allow editing all fields of manual transactions (#683)
## What & why

Until now only the **category, notes, labels and (for manual
transactions) the description** could be changed after a transaction was
created — the **amount and date were immutable and the account was
create-only**. Users creating transactions by hand had no way to fix a
wrong amount or date.

This lets **manually created transactions edit every field at any time
after creation**: account, date, description and amount, on top of
category/labels/notes. **Imported / bank-synced transactions keep
amount, date, account, currency and description locked** to their source
data.

## Changes

**Backend**
- `UpdateTransactionRequest` now validates `amount`, `transaction_date`,
`account_id` and `currency_code` **only when the transaction's `source`
is `manually_created`**. For imported transactions those keys are not
validated, so `validated()` drops them and they can't be changed even
via a crafted request.
- `TransactionController::update()` moves the manual account balance to
match an edited amount/date/account, **opt-in via the same
`update_balance` flag used by create/delete**. It snapshots the pre-edit
state, and only rebalances when one of amount/date/account actually
changed. Connected accounts are skipped inside the adjuster.
- `ManualBalanceAdjuster` was refactored to a shared private `adjust()`
primitive (removing duplication between the existing create/delete
paths) and gains `reverseCreatedTransaction()` so an edit can reverse
the old contribution and apply the new one.

**Frontend**
- `edit-transaction-dialog.tsx` unifies the create/edit editability
decision behind a single `canEditAllFields` flag and renders the
account, date and amount inputs (plus the "update account balance"
checkbox) when editing a manual transaction.
- `transaction-sync.ts` `update()` gains an `{ updateBalance }` option,
mirroring `create()`.

## Known limitation (by design)

Like create/delete, the balance update trusts the opt-in flag and nudges
a **single dated snapshot** — it doesn't cascade to later snapshots and
keeps no record of whether creation adjusted the balance. So it's exact
for the common case (recent transaction, flag used consistently) and can
drift otherwise. This matches the app's existing snapshot-based balance
model; a transaction-derived balance would be a separate, larger change.
Documented with a `ponytail:` comment at the call site.

## Tests

- **Feature (`tests/Feature/TransactionTest.php`)**: manual transaction
edits amount/date/account/currency; imported transaction cannot; balance
moves by the delta on amount change; no change when not requested;
moving between accounts reverses the old and credits the new;
currency-only edit doesn't rebalance; connected accounts never change.
All green locally (55 passed).
- **Component (`edit-transaction-dialog.test.tsx`)**: manual transaction
shows editable amount/date/description; imported keeps them read-only.

## QA

Real browser QA (Playwright) against the running app with the
`demo@whisper.money` data:
- Opened a manual transaction → edited date, description and amount,
kept "update account balance" checked, saved. Verified in the DB:
`amount -4200 → -7550`, `date 2026-07-10 → 2026-07-12`, description
updated, and the account balance snapshots moved accordingly.
- Opened an imported transaction → amount and description render
read-only (locked).

fix(balances): propagate retroactive transaction changes to later balances (#682)
## Problem

When a transaction is created (or deleted) with the **update balance**
option on
a **past date**, only that day's balance snapshot was adjusted. Balances
are
stored as sparse per-date snapshots read with carry-forward semantics
(`BalanceLookup::getBalanceAt` returns the most recent snapshot
on/before a
date), so later snapshots — most importantly *today's current balance* —
kept
their stale value.

Reproduction: yesterday = 10, today = 10. Add a −5 expense dated
yesterday with
"update balance" on. Before this fix, yesterday became 5 but today
stayed 10.
Expected: both become 5.

## Fix

`ManualBalanceAdjuster` now shifts the transaction's own day **and every
later
snapshot** by the same delta, on both create and delete:

- `applyCreatedTransaction` seeds a snapshot on the transaction's date
from the
carried-forward balance (when none exists yet), then increments that
date and
  all later snapshots by `+amount`.
- `reverseDeletedTransaction` now applies the exact inverse from the
transaction's own date forward (previously it only ever adjusted
*today*,
which left the past day stale and would corrupt a create→delete
round-trip of
  a back-dated transaction).

The shared forward-shift is extracted into `shiftBalancesFrom(delta)`,
used by
both paths.

## Also in this PR (small UI fix)

The balance history modal (`BalancesModal`) rendered each row's
date/balance
text top-aligned while the action icons were centered, because the base
`TableCell` defaults to `align-top`. Center the data-row cells so every
column
lines up. Scoped to this modal — the shared `TableCell` is untouched.

## Notes / intended semantics

- **Later user-set balances shift too.** Snapshots are treated as points
on one
running balance, so backfilling/removing a past transaction moves
today's
balance as well. That is exactly the reported expectation ("today should
also
change"). We deliberately do **not** try to distinguish "anchor"
snapshots
(a value the user reconciled by hand) from transaction-derived ones —
there is
no such distinction in the schema, and adding one is a separate product
  decision.
- **Pre-existing, out of scope:** editing a transaction's amount/date
never
  adjusts balances (`amount`/`transaction_date` aren't editable via
`UpdateTransactionRequest`), and the create vs. delete "update balance"
toggles are independent — creating with the box off but deleting with it
on
  can over-correct. Neither is introduced here.

## Tests

- New: creating a past-dated transaction updates that date **and** every
later
  balance (the exact reported bug).
- Rewrote the delete test to assert the reverse propagates from the
transaction's date forward (the old test encoded the now-removed "always
write
  today" behavior).
- Full `TransactionTest` suite green (49 passed).

## QA

Verified end-to-end in the running app on a manual account (yesterday =
10.00,
today = 10.00): created a −5.00 expense dated yesterday with "update
balance"
on. The balance history modal shows **both** records — yesterday and
today —
drop from 10.00 to 5.00, and the DB confirms both snapshots = 500.

fix(categories): fall back to gray when category color is unknown (#675)
## Problem

`getCategoryColorClasses(color)` in `resources/js/types/category.ts`
returned `colorMap[color]` directly. When a category's `color` is
**not** one of the known `CATEGORY_COLORS` (a legacy value, or any color
the frontend map doesn't cover), the lookup is `undefined`. Consumers
then read `.bg` off it — e.g. the transaction categorizer command
palette:

This threw `TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading
'bg')` and crashed the categorize-transactions view.

**Sentry:** `PHP-LARAVEL-4H` (frontend, error/high) — first seen
2026-07-14, in `use-categorize-transactions` chunk,
`getCategoryColorClasses` → `Array.map` over categories.

## Fix

Mirror the guard that already exists in the sibling
`getCategoryChartColor` (which does `?? 'var(--color-gray-500)'`): fall
back to the gray classes when the color isn't in the map.

```

One line, behavior-preserving for all valid colors, and it turns a crash
into a neutral gray swatch for the rare out-of-enum color.

## Test

Added two cases to `resources/js/types/category.test.ts`:
- a known color still returns its own classes,
- an unknown color falls back to gray instead of returning `undefined`.

Ran locally (minimal vitest config): 4/4 pass.

🤖 Found and fixed autonomously via the Sentry monitoring loop.

fix(amount-input): allow negative amounts via a sign toggle on iOS (#674)
## Problem

On the create/edit transaction form, the amount field uses
`inputMode="decimal"`. On iOS the numeric keypad that this triggers has
**no minus key**, so users cannot type the leading `-` the input relies
on to record a negative amount (e.g. an outgoing transfer).

## Fix

Add an opt-in `allowNegative` prop to `AmountInput` that renders a small
`+`/`−` sign-toggle button at the **start** of the field. It works with
any keyboard, so it does not depend on the OS keypad. It is enabled only
on the create-transaction amount input; budgets, balances and loan
fields keep their current UI.

- The button turns red with a `−` when the amount is negative, and shows
`+` otherwise (`aria-pressed` reflects the state).
- Toggle fires on `click` (works for both pointer and keyboard);
`onPointerDown` `preventDefault` keeps the input focused to avoid a
blur/reformat race.
- A leading `-` set via the toggle **before** typing is preserved on
focus, so the sign is not silently dropped.
- The currency symbol shifts right when the toggle is present so the two
never overlap; layout is unchanged when `allowNegative` is off.

## Refactor

Extracted the repeated `evaluateMathExpression(x) ?? parseInputValue(x)`
string→cents resolution (previously duplicated across blur, Enter, and
the new toggle) into a single `resolveCents()` helper.

## Tests

`resources/js/components/ui/amount-input.test.tsx` — the toggle is
hidden unless `allowNegative`, flips positive↔negative, and preserves
the sign when focusing after toggling an empty field.

## QA

Manually verified in the running app (create-transaction dialog): typing
an amount and toggling the sign both ways updates the value and the
button state correctly, on both prefix (USD `$`) and suffix (EUR `€`)
currency layouts.

feat(cashflow): expand income categories and fix Sankey label overlap (#672)
## Summary

Two improvements to the Cashflow Sankey chart, plus a fix reported for
real users whose chart rendered with overlapping labels.

### 1. Fix overlapping labels on small categories
recharts spaces same-column Sankey nodes by exactly `nodePadding` and
distributes the height **proportionally to value**, so tiny categories
end up separated by only that padding regardless of canvas height. It
was 24px while a two-line label is 30px tall, so adjacent labels
overlapped (e.g. *Regalos* / *Otros* in the monthly view, *Ingreso
desconocido* / *Pagos devueltos* in the yearly view).

Set `NODE_PADDING` above the label height so two adjacent labels can
never collide, whatever the bar size. This is independent of width, so
it fixes desktop and mobile alike.

### 2. Expand income categories (drill-down)
Income categories can now be drilled down into their subcategories,
mirroring the existing expense behaviour. The `sankey` endpoint already
returns both sides for a given `parent`, so this is frontend-only:

- The open drill-down is keyed by `{id, kind}` — a category can
legitimately appear on both the income and expense side.
- Income subcategories link `child -> parent` and form a column to the
**left** of the parent (expense subcategories stay on the right).
- The chart-height budget now accounts for the combined leftmost column
(income siblings + subcategories share it), so a many-source drill-down
can't drive recharts to a negative row scale and break the whole chart.
- The expand chevron points the way the column opens: income shows `<`
collapsed / `>` expanded; expense keeps `>` collapsed / `v` expanded.

The income/expense node-building was also de-duplicated into a single
helper.

## Test plan
- `sankey-chart.test.tsx`: 7 unit tests green (added income-expansion
coverage alongside the existing expense one).
- `tsc --noEmit`, `eslint`, `prettier` clean.
- Manual browser QA (Playwright) on a real account, desktop **and**
mobile: monthly + yearly views (overlap gone), expand income, switch to
expand expense (no regression), collapse, chevron direction, responsive
horizontal scroll.

fix(accounts): show credit cards as positive and exclude them from net worth (#673)
## Summary

A credit card is a spending account, not wealth. This change:

- **Excludes credit cards from net worth entirely** — they no longer add
to *or* subtract from the net worth total, the evolution chart, or its
trends. They are filtered out at the source, so every net-worth
aggregation (backend summary + frontend chart/trend/MoM) is consistent.
- **Shows the credit card balance as a positive figure** on the
per-account cards, on both the dashboard and the Accounts page (like any
other account).
- **Fixes a loan sign inconsistency**: a loan used to show *positive* on
the Accounts page but *negative* on the dashboard. The Accounts list now
applies the liability sign too, so loans render negative in both places.

### Why

A user reported that a credit card showed as a positive balance on the
Accounts screen but dragged their net worth down on the dashboard — the
same account rendered with opposite signs on the two screens. The root
cause was that credit cards were modelled as liabilities (like loans)
and each screen computed the balance through a different path. Product
decision: a credit card is spendable credit, so its balance is shown
as-is and simply doesn't participate in net worth.

## Behavior

## ⚠️ Existing-data impact

Previously credit cards were forced to **reduce** net worth
(`-abs(balance)`). With this change they are excluded, so **users with
existing credit-card accounts will see their net worth rise** by
whatever their cards used to subtract. This is a deliberate semantic
change, not a migration — no stored balances are altered.

## Implementation

- `AccountType::countsInNetWorth()` — new predicate, `false` only for
credit cards; `calculateNetWorthAt()` skips excluded types.
- `AccountType::reducesNetWorth()` / `LIABILITY_TYPES` — now only
`loan`, so `netWorthContribution()` renders credit cards positive on the
per-account cards.
- `net-worth-chart.tsx` — credit cards filtered out of
`includedAccounts` (one point that cascades to segments, totals, trends
and `useChartViews`).
- `Accounts/Index.tsx` — applies `netWorthContribution()` so loans
render negative, matching the dashboard.

## Testing

- Backend: `AccountTypeTest` (32) and `DashboardAnalyticsTest` (credit
card excluded, loan still subtracts) — green.
- Frontend: `chart-calculations.test.ts` (37) — green.
- `pint`, `prettier`, `eslint` — clean.

Browser QA skipped per request (the logged-in flow is also currently
blocked locally by pending Spaces migrations). Logic is fully covered by
the tests above.

Render the Cashflow Sankey with recharts (responsive + expense drill-down) (#670)
## What & why

The Cashflow "Money Flow" diagram was a bespoke SVG Sankey that laid out
nodes and links by hand. It didn't hold up on small screens (fixed 400px
min-width, cramped flows) and was ~950 lines of custom geometry to
maintain.

This replaces it with recharts' `<Sankey>` (already a dependency) inside
a `ResponsiveContainer`, letting recharts own the layout. Net **−950 /
+515** lines across the component.

## What's kept

- Income → **Net** hub → expense flow.
- Small-category **"Other"** grouping (`groupSmallCategories`).
- Privacy-mode masking on every amount (hub + categories +
subcategories).
- Click-through to a category's transactions.
- Category colors, resolved via `categoryBarColor` (same as the
breakdown cards).

## What's new

- **Drill-down (expense side):** click an expense category with children
to expand its subcategories into their own column; recharts re-lays-out
around it. One open at a time, a chevron marks expandable parents, and
the expanded parent's label moves onto its bar. Subcategories and
childless categories still click through to their transactions. Data
comes from the existing `GET /api/cashflow/sankey?...&parent=<id>`
endpoint, fetched lazily and reset when the period changes.
- **Mobile:** the chart scrolls horizontally with a comfortable
min-width (same pattern as the Trend chart) instead of crushing the
flows; canvas height grows with the busiest column so labels don't
collide.
- `align="left"` so an expanded parent's subcategories line up beside it
instead of collapsing into the last column and crossing every flow.

## What's dropped (intentional)

- The "Other" popover breakdown — the per-category detail already lives
in the breakdown cards below the chart.
- Income-side drill-down — with the central hub, expanding an income
source would split the income column across two depths (visually
broken); income categories rarely have children. Income keeps
click-through.

## Review

Two parallel reviews (technical + bugs/side-effects) ran over the diff.
Applied:
- **Category colors:** resolve the `CategoryColor` keyword via
`categoryBarColor` instead of using it raw as an SVG `fill` — non-CSS
keywords (`slate`, `neutral`, `amber`, `rose`) were rendering **black**.
(Pre-existing bug carried over from the old chart.)
- Skip top-level categories with `amount <= 0` so they don't become
stray unlinked nodes.
- Keep an expanding parent's label beside its bar until subcategories
load (no flicker); collapse again if the fetch fails.
- Cap right-side label width so a parent left of an expanded column
can't stretch its label across it.
- Memoize the cashflow `period` so the drill-down fetch effect doesn't
re-run on unrelated re-renders.

Dropped (with reason): re-adding the "Other" popover and income
drill-down (intentional, above); wrapping aria-labels in `__()` (would
add i18n keys, and matches the prior behavior); the recharts node/link
prop casts (version is pinned; params are hand-typed to document the
fields used).

## Testing

- 6 Vitest unit tests (render, "Other" grouping, empty state, drill-down
with a mocked fetch, expand affordance, privacy masking) — green.
- `tsc --noEmit` clean for the touched files; ESLint + Prettier clean.

> **Note on browser QA:** I did not record an automated demo video. The
local DB holds real user financial data (won't log in / record), and
creating a synthetic test/demo account is currently blocked by pending
Spaces migrations in the local DB (`current_space_id` column missing —
unrelated to this change). The chart was verified interactively during
development (desktop render, mobile layout, drill-down, and the
black-color fix). Happy to record a walkthrough if we seed a safe demo
account.
